Pilsner malt and German Munich and Caramunich malts are the backbone of this beer. The rich toasted and bready flavors imparted by the Munich malts are balanced with a sharp but balanced bitterness imparted by the imported German hops. The result is a German Alt-style beer that is both malty and easy drinking. The Virginia Ale is 5% ABV and has approximately 40 IBUs.

Keg @ COTU. The pour’s light amber with a small head. The nose is peaches, red fruits, some angel food cake. The taste is softly bitter, more sweet fruits. Light, clean malts. More cake batter. Soft carbonation, light mouthfeel. Good.

Can from Total wine Richmond south. Pours brown with a thin khaki head. Not much on the nose. A bit malty on the tongue. I wish it was maltier if that’s a word. Finishes clean. Eh!

Can shared by jcwatts at rb day at the track. Poured a crisp clear brown center with slightly lighter edges and a smaller foamy head. Aroma is nutty with brown bread crusts, some honey sweetness, earth and nut shells. Thinner almost watery body with average to strong carbonation. Flavor is nutty, saw dust, bad bread and some orange.

Poured as a 2 oz sampler at Virginia Beer Live 2013. May have been suffering from palate blowout. Major extract tang to this - it tasted like a very poorly made homebrewed beer with no distinct style at all. I wouldn’t ever drink this again.
