COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The namesake beer of COTU’s founders, Ray Ray’s Pale Ale starts with imported English 2-row barley that provides a full rich flavor. Near continuous additions of Cascade hops contribute both a balanced bitterness and classic spicy and citrusy aromas and flavors. This extremely drinkable un-filtered American-style pale ale checks in at 5.2% ABV and 42 IBUs.

Strong lilly and lemon zest bouquet, with apricot accents. Clear amber, medium head. Intense lily flavor initially, apricot and papaya at midpalate, lemon zest finish. Medium body. Hoppier than a lot of IPAs, quite bitter, and not real quaffable. I like it though.

The beer is light golden with a small white head. Aroma of hops, light citrus, a touch of floral and pine notes. Flavor is mediocre. A bit malty and unrefined for the style. Hop character is subdued and overshadowed. Eh... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the brewery. An amber beer, still and clear, with just a wisp of a head. This delivers an earthy, funky bitterness. Finished with a tart bite. Super light palate. (#4923, 1/19/2013)

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of pale bready malts, earthy and herbal hops. The taste is pale malts, a faint bit of caramel, herbal and citrus hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.

Sampled at VA Cheer & Beer. Hazy orange, slight white head. A bit thin, but a nice orange citrus, but very fresh hop.

Draft at brewery. Clear light orange, slight head. Aroma of biscuity malts and some piney and lightly citric hops. Flavor matches. Light bodied, definitely hoppy, almost textbook APA. Didn’t blow me away, but quite nice. So many brewers have gotten away from Cascade these days that this was an almost welcome flashback to "simpler times" in the world of microbrews. Well done.

Draft at the source hazy orange color, white head, nice solid lacing. Aroma of orange peel. Taste is fruity citrus. Nice body.
