A reddish copper ale with a thick mocha head. In aroma, sweet pungent caramel malt with resinous and catty hops, and faint sulfur. In mouth, a nice pungent treacle malt with light menthol and resinous citrusy hops, well made.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2013 Rerate. Tap at C’est What. Deep ruddy pour. Very fine cream-coloured lace. The nose is lovely - sweet toasty/chewy malt. A touch of caramel and stewed fruit along with some tropical fruit and citrus hop aromas. Intense hop flavour and aroma but the bitterness is quite restrained by the sweet malts. Approaches balance but is definitely assertive. Loads of flavour and warming really brings out some fruity tropical flavour. There is a touch of sticky sweetness on the finish with some notable hop resinousness also contributing. Really tasty beer.
Deep amber pour. Nose is juicy and citrusy. A bit of peach and pine. Loads of ethanol and some light fruit. Sweetish malt mid-palate along with some toffee. A touch of pepper and some light sticky sweetness. Moderate fruitiness and a bit of light tropical character. Lovely actually.

Bang on imperial red. Hoppy aroma, and those hops are tasty, fruity. Above average mouthfeel, reddish colour, lasting head. Good drinkability.

2013-06-22. Crisp dark red amber body with a nice beige head and lace. Aroma is pleasant, leafy hops over pleasantly sweet malt base. Flavour is similar, leafy green hops, light bitter over layer and finish but the middle is sweet malt. 7++ Average to medium bodied palate, modest carbonation. Relatively simple but quite enjoyable. On tap @ Brothers Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Deep red-orange, with big ruby grapefruit on the nose. Hugely flavourful, lots of ruby grapefruit, some guava, lovely supporting malts that are JUST sweet enough without becoming cloying. Long bitter end. This beer is big, but remains incredibly drinkable, bright, and balanced. Superb.

[Bottle (750ml)] Pours a deep amber with an average size long-lasting frothy tan head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma is kind of Barley Wine-ish. With sweet, toasty caramel malt, lots of leafy hops, some alcohol and some fruit. Flavour is sweet and equally malty and hoppy along with some alcohol, tropical fruit and a big, long bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. I didn’t love it, not sure why, but it’s certainly pretty good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a dark reddish amber with a small beige head. Aroma of dry caramel malts, bready malts, and some pungent resinous hops. Flavour is very round, full of dry caramel malts, resinous hops, and some very subtle fruity notes. Extremely well-balanced but the flavour profile isn’t anything special. Good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of deep sweet caramelized malt with some earthy and piney hops. Taste I also dominated by some sweet caramelized malt with light unrefined notes with some citrus and piney hops. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Too much residual sugars for my taste but still enjoyable.
