4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
One of the best collaboration beers Iíve tried this year. From the 750ml bottle. Nice, deep red colour with a light, creamy head. A slight fruity aroma, with a wonderful full texture on the tongue. The sweetness of the malt is nicely balanced with the hop bitterness that follow it. Really smooth for a 9.5% beer in this category Well done!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2013 750ml bottle. Gorgeous presentation - nice head and retention with beautiful amber-red hue. Some scent of pine, grass and citrus. Incredible taste. Amazing. Actually I canít believe what Iím drinking here: an IPA that tastes like a double IPA but with a buttery creamy saltiness in the finish. Sounds odd, I know, to say salt adds to this beer but it somehow does. And incredibly well. This is certainly the best IPA ... No, the best beer Iíve ever rated. And Iíve rated a couple hundred now!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark ruby red complexion with a thin, beige foamy head. Oak, sweet malt, fresh bread and slight hops to the nose. Flavor is tart, tangy at first, as time goes on, a breadier hoppier character emerges and finishes dry. Velvet mouthfeel, long-lasting bitter-sweet aftertaste.

Iím a sucker for this style. Pours dark reddish brown with big frothy beige head. Aroma is caramel malts and floral and pine hops. Taste is rich caramel and syrupy pine hop bitterness. Need to head back to the store for more.

4.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at the brewpub in Surrey, and bomber purchased at Liberty Wine Merchants on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. Dropped in for a glass at Critís recommendation, and itís a doozy! The first thing one naturally notices is the deep red colour. A nice beige head on itís shoulders as well. Hops and fruit on the nose. Itís very much like an imperial IPA, but with more fruit. I canít tease out the fruit flavours here, but thereís an impression of raspberry and other berry fruits. Delicious!
Note: Description on Ratebeer lists alcohol content at 8.5%, whereas my bottle label says 9.5%. I sent in a correction, but no change so far.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap@ The Bent Elbow - puts a shimmering copper-red ale in the tulip with a small off white cap that laces the glass. Aroma is complex big in tropical/exotic fruits earthy pine notes, sweet malts - wonderful nose to it. Silken delivery but super robust.... the palate is deluged in lush tones of guava, papaya married to rich red malt sweet roastiness finish is slow and silky accented by increased bittering - very lush and satisfying. Making a single hop double red with the new Mosaic hop and Munich red malts was a stroke of genius. The Mosaic is a Simcoe offshoot...like Citra on steroids, but itís much more than that. Rich in Mango, lemon, citrus, earthy pine, tropical fruit, herbal and stone fruit notes....it gives this great red ale a triple whammy of hop presence in aroma, flavor and bittering and perfectly complements the malts chosen - I love this big red ale and I drink all I can get of it when it shows up - Iím hoping it is made available on a more frequent basis.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 11, 2013 Rerate. Tap at Cíest What. Deep ruddy pour. Very fine cream-coloured lace. The nose is lovely - sweet toasty/chewy malt. A touch of caramel and stewed fruit along with some tropical fruit and citrus hop aromas. Intense hop flavour and aroma but the bitterness is quite restrained by the sweet malts. Approaches balance but is definitely assertive. Loads of flavour and warming really brings out some fruity tropical flavour. There is a touch of sticky sweetness on the finish with some notable hop resinousness also contributing. Really tasty beer.
Deep amber pour. Nose is juicy and citrusy. A bit of peach and pine. Loads of ethanol and some light fruit. Sweetish malt mid-palate along with some toffee. A touch of pepper and some light sticky sweetness. Moderate fruitiness and a bit of light tropical character. Lovely actually.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Brothers Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Deep red-orange, with big ruby grapefruit on the nose. Hugely flavourful, lots of ruby grapefruit, some guava, lovely supporting malts that are JUST sweet enough without becoming cloying. Long bitter end. This beer is big, but remains incredibly drinkable, bright, and balanced. Superb.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice fresh hoppy/ richmalty aroma, a nice mix. Sweet malt, tropical and citrus fruit in the aroma. Looks beautiful, dark ruby color with very long lasting off white creamy head. Well balanced taste, piney and citrusy hops throughout, finishes with a bit of biscuit and sweetness. Alcohol very well hidden, creamy body. Above average carbonation.
