3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, - SEP 14, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2007 Had this on tap at the brewery. I didn’t take notes but it was better than a 2.3 so I’m going to bump the score up a bit closer to what I had out in Surrey.
Cask, GCBF: Bright amber. Candyish, caramelly, bubblegummy aroma. Fairly fizzy and sticky body. Really, really sweet - very candyish. Unbalanced - some ester complexity starts to salvage it, and the malts are obviously quality, but it’s still too sweet. Ar 6 Ap 2 F 4 P 2 O 9 = 2.3
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Matts_Property (670) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 26, 2011
On tap at Central City Brew Pub. Pours yellow/gold. Aroma of apple juice, candied sugar and yeast. Flavour predominantly of apples, but also pear and candied sugar. Lively carbonation yet soft on the tongue after a couple of seconds too. Quite sweet. Nice Belgian Trippel.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JoeMcPhee (6965) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 9, 2011
Tap at St. Augustine. Very pale golden pour with a tight creamy white head. The nose is lightly wheaty and very estery. A sweet candy sugar aroma and flavour. Spicy but the spiciness is quite restrained. Fruity with lots of peach and pear as well as a touch of light fruitiness as well. It’s too sweet but it’s not at all malty - which at least means they get the yeast side of things right but something went awry during the fermentation. Soft and reasonably drinkable - but only in a small quantity. Almost honeyish on the back.

Bit thin on the palate I thought but general Belgian taste. Sweet malt flavour with a minor balanced bitterness and a sticky alc. finish that warms you as the beer warms.
