An ale fashioned to survive the long voyage from England to India during the British colonization. Hops, hops, and more hops, this ale has an intense aroma and a long lingering finish. Drink as an appetizer on its own, or pair it with any hearty dish. A beer for the connoisseur, this is the Brewmaster’s choice. "Cheers!"

March 30, 2013; 6.5% abv, 355 mL can, BBD: 05/12/2013, shaker Hops dominate with sweet floral and fruity flavours: grapefruit and lychee. Pours amber with a slight pinkish tone. Head is big and frothy, off-white, well retained. Hop flavours as expected, but leaning more towards the herbal/resin side of things. Malts are well balanced, toasty and sweet. Finish is resinous and refreshing. Light carbonation, medium to light body; overall refreshing. Serious alpha hops, overall quite refreshing.

Live and learn whilst drinking ale... I’m having a Red Betty Northwest IPA, in a can similar to the one pictured here. Betty is riding her bicycle with her feet not on the pedals, probably in a successful attempt to have her skirt blow up. Very risque! First time I’ve seen this one on the East Coast of the USofA. Poured into a tulip/thistle, it looks ale-like and smells hoppy. It’s hoppy, alright, but not over the top. Nice, clean IPA. Now for the learning part. Several recent BA reviewers are complaining that this brew is now filtered: ’Filtration doesn’t impress this customer; it is an additional process which subtracts from flavour and texture and is a waste of energy. But the uptown crowd doesn’t care about such things. ’ and ’It was also my favourite. Easily a 5 in every category.’They updated the can artwork, started filtering it and who knows what else.’ The second reviewer re-rated the ale at 1.76. So what’s wrong with filtering? Can an unfiltered beer be put into a can? From what I’ve read, it doesn’t seem so. Whatever, this is a good IPA.

Grand Junction, Co - College Liquors - 12 oz can - labeled as Red Betty. Sparkling, medium golden pour, soft, snow white soapy head. Spruce in the aroma, some ripening vegetables. Solid IPA flavor, nice citrus bitterness, spearmint, caramel malty notes. Decently thick mouthfeel.

Can from On the Fly. Pours out with nice fluffy head, orange golden body with tons of fine bubbles, very active carbonation. Head leaves clumpy lacing. Gentle aroma equal parts apple fruitiness and piney hops. Taste brings in more crisp happiness, some malt sweetness. Finishes kind of dry, a hint of metallic notes, but still excellent.

12oz can from whole foods... clear orange brew with a decent enough white head that leaves splotchy lacing... Dry toast and lesser caramel malt... Traditional PNW hoppiness...citrus and pine cones... Weird fruitiness from I would guess the yeast is sorta throwing the finish off IMO... Still there are way worse IPA’s out there... Not bad at all.

Terrific IPA. Lots of hops, nice aroma with a hint of citrus . The hops don't over power the flavour but there is no missing them. Very drinkable IPA! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz can poured. Listed as Red Betty Northwest IPA. Gotta love these solid IPAs in a can that you can buy with pocket change. Pours a bright copper color with a ton of foam head and sticky lace. Mild orange, citrus hops aroma. A little toasty as well. Very tasty IPA. Quite impressed.

can: fresh aroma gives way to biscuit and caramel. nice fresh hops. low to moderate bitterness and perhaps a touch thinner than I like, but pretty good.
