This IPA poured a nice amber colour, cloudy, with a big, foamy, light tan coloured head. Scents includecitrus hops, pineapple, orange and apple, grass and dough. First swig was quite hoppy with flavours of citrus and grass, honey and bread. Finish is quite bitter with hop flavor lingering.

355 ml can. Pours a slightly hazy, medium orange with a medium, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet, fruity aroma of grapefruit, peach and caramel malt with a hint of pine. Sweet fruity flavour of grapefruit, peach, mango, grass and a hint of caramel malt with a very dry, bitter, hoppy, resin finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. A very pleasant surprise.

Can. Pours clear dark amber with a big creamy to frothy fully lasting white head that leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is pine, faint caramel and grass. Medium body, medium to heavy bitter, medium sweet but faint malt flavors (could be my cold), average carbo and a very long, very bitter finish.

Draught @ Bier Markt Ottawa. Pours hazy ambet with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and hops, with citric and fruity notes. Bittet, hoppy flavour with notes of needles and touches of malt and yeast. Fruity hints. Bitterish aftertaste with hints of yeast. Drinkable and refreshing but not top notch.

Aroma: caramel, some alcohol, weak resin and pine notes. Taste: moderate to strong sweeteness, moderate bitterness. Flavour: caramel, bock-like malt notes, alcohol. Aftertaste isnít so sweet with moderate bitterness. This is a pleasant beer but has too weak hops in aroma.

CAN 473 ML from bunget. Clear golden-amber, white frothy head. Big malts, citrus hops in the background. No resins, no pine Bold, but too simple. The taste is sweet, rich malts, caramel, strong bitterness that is malt-dominated. Good, but too sweet.

12oz can into a tumbler. Pours a slightly opage golden with fluffy white head, lots of lacing. Sharp spruce and citrus hop aroma, a bit of apple. Light caramel sweetness, with a heavy, lasting, bitter finish. Crisp and refreshing. One of my favourite IPAs, and it comes out of a can. Go figure.

I have sample this beverage side by side with the original and there does not appear to be any difference. Considering that $2 for each 6 pack I drink, goes to a very worthy cause; I wish this was available all the time! Next to the Red Racer Imperial IPA, this is by far my favourite IPA. See my reviews for the Imperial IPA and the regular India Pale Ale.

Iím not convinced that this is actually a different beer than the regular IPA that I grab every once & awhile. Even the description above pretty clearly states its just a different can. Iíd confirm with an admin but the last time I did I got an all caps response that I still donít understand where the anger came from. So I will rate this like a re-rate cuz my feelings on this brew have slightly changed --orginal score 4.2 -- once I first tried it (Iím convinced its not as fresh/íhoppy/ímind blowing but it could just be my taste has evolved). Still, this is a great can of hop juice. You can taste the sunshine & the resin has a 420 edge that puts me in mind of poorly dried ganga.

Pours with a thin finger cap that flattens quicker than a Vancouver suburb in an earthquake. Great can. Great beer. Wish I could try more of their stuff but Iím a few provinces separated. I could dump a dozen of these on ice & drink íem all night. I believe some of you call that sessionable.

Live and learn whilst drinking ale... Iím having a Red Betty Northwest IPA, in a can similar to the one pictured here. Betty is riding her bicycle with her feet not on the pedals, probably in a successful attempt to have her skirt blow up. Very risque! First time Iíve seen this one on the East Coast of the USofA. Poured into a tulip/thistle, it looks ale-like and smells hoppy. Itís hoppy, alright, but not over the top. Nice, clean IPA. Now for the learning part. Several recent BA reviewers are complaining that this brew is now filtered: íFiltration doesnít impress this customer; it is an additional process which subtracts from flavour and texture and is a waste of energy. But the uptown crowd doesnít care about such things. í and íIt was also my favourite. Easily a 5 in every category.íThey updated the can artwork, started filtering it and who knows what else.í The second reviewer re-rated the ale at 1.76. So whatís wrong with filtering? Can an unfiltered beer be put into a can? From what Iíve read, it doesnít seem so. Whatever, this is a good IPA.
