3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 WheatKing (698) - Oak Bay, British Columbia, - NOV 7, 2012Massively carbonated in the cans we’ve had. Hops are citrus/carrot. I’ve never seen carrot listed as a hop characteristic, but seriously when you make an orange/carrot juice with your juicer it tastes like this. Maybe If I drink enough of this I’ll get Jay Kordich eyebrows. Malt is a bit heavier than expected, without many "ringing" qualities, where the hops and malt echo back and forth in the good APAs. Finish is tangerine.
Good, but their ESB and IPA are so awesome that perhaps my expectations were too high.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2013 Can (355 ml). From Graham, thanks! Amber/orange with a medium mostly lasting white head and heavy lacing. Aroma is mainly of citrus and tropical fruits along with caramel, slight pine and a subtle but a bit disturbing vegetable presence... still interesting though. Taste is slightly sweet with citrus, caramel and slight pine, the vegetable presence is less substle here and the hop flavor fade quickly. Slight to moderate bitterness. Light to medium body (ok for the style). Slightly dry mouthfeel. Sticky. Average to good Pale Ale, easily drinkable.

Can. Well poop. I thought I had the IPA, not the PA. Pours clear amber with a humongous off-white creamy head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, cigarette butts, pine. Flavor is the same, medium sweet with a light bitterness. Notes of grass and metal as well. Medium body.

Serving: from can--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles.
Aroma: lightly perfumy hoppy and somewhat metallic.
Appearance: huge, rocky, off-white, initial head with excellent lacing and fully lasting longevity. Hazy, light-amber body.
Taste: lightly sweet, citrusy initial flavor and lightly bitter finish with average duration
Palate: light bodied with watery texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: very good. I’d be happy to drink this again.

from notes at Cask Days 2011. Nice cloudy ochre colour w. very slight foamy head. Aroma is noticeable sweet and piney hop bitters. Flavours are sweet and hoppy. Citra resiny bitters stand out. Nice balanced lingering aftertaste.

October 30, 2011 - Volo Cask Days 2011 - gravity cask. This is the "Citra" version of this, but I guess since this isn’t England or Québec it can’t be a separate rating. Lovely hazy orange pour with a smallish but lasting bright white frothy head. Aroma is ... yummm - total pungent fresh catty citra bitterness with framing sweet pineapple malt - fantastic. Taste is a bit maltier and more restrained - good, but more APA - some alcohol, good balance. Decent body, mild carbonation, a fairly quick finish - 15- because that aroma .... damn that was fine!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheGent (611) - , Massachusetts, USA - SEP 6, 2012
a great 6 pack. Most was enjoyed int he can but had the last in a glass. Color is a hazy yellow tinged with orange with light bubbly head. Lots of carbonation rising up. Aroma is a nice grapefruit but also some tropical fruit. A little hardy malt under that. Taste is mostly mild refreshing and slight bitter.light body. Feels like a mix between an American and English pale ale. Makes sense for canadian brew.

355ml can pours a pale golden amber color with a 2 finger white head that settles quite quickly leaving some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus and caramel. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with a surprisingly generous citrus hop bitterness. Light to medium body with adequate carbonation leaving a nice tingle on the tongue. I was quite stunned with the nice balance of flavors in this brew.
