Bottled at pre-RBJG festivities in Kyoto. Hazy golden, minimal head. Perfumy apricot aroma. Mid-dry with clean, yet chewy crystal malt-like profile. Inviting, but a little sterile until orangey hops brings it to life. Finishes with medium bitterness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 6, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 22, 2007 Light amber colour and dead flat. It’s on cask, so it probably looks just fine in other formats. Toasty, woody anisey aroma. Balanced flavour - some great slightly pearlike estery notes along with well-extracted caramel malts and a subtle, earthy hop character. I could do a sixer of this.
Earlier Rating: 12/24/2004 Total Score: 2.9 Light copper colour. Aroma is mainly limey, with a hint of grapefruit. Body is a little thin. Flavour leans towards sweet lime. Slightly bitter - less hopped than the Red, but there’s a lot less malt so it shows a bit more. Finish is dry, light. Re-sampled showed this beer as clean, with better malt character. Still light, but I may have underestimated the craftsmanship previously.

Citra version: A hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a nice citrusy hops, nice and smooth, biscuitty malts. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt with smooth floral hops, citrusy, light catnip, very nice and smooth. Cask Days, Oct. 30 2011.

Decent head falling back to thin lace. Faint copper colour, aromatic piny smell. Some caramel maltiness. Not enough bittering hops although the hop flavour was decent, if a little too faint. Good, but could be much better.
