This Irish style stout is deep, dark, smooth and creamy. The use of oatmeal in the mashtun adds “silkiness” to the texture and body of this ale. Excellent paired with oysters, prime rib and your weekend brunch. Formerly known as Steelhead Stout.

Drinking now cuz it was in sale and we are tired from hiking out from Moul Falls in Wells Gray on a cloudless moonless night, feet soaked from standing in the middle of a creek with snowshoes on. Dark brown and a small bubbly head was all that the can would allow. Oatmeal, biscuit, some sweetness, cherry, light roast. Taste is so so. Light to faint bitterness. Weak roast, oatmeal, light choco. Dry. It’s ok and boring yet totally safe.

Looks good with a dark black pour and decent tan head. Malts and coffee but fairly bitter and aggressive. Brewer should stick to IPAs.

Pours a clear dark brown with a huge frothy long standing brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa and a creamy mocha Aroma with some light hop aroma. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, bitter cocoa, a creamy mouthfeel and a nice dry finish. Mouth feel is medium low with a medium high carbonation. Mouthfeel needs to be fuller for the style and could use a bit more oatmeal sickness. Good oatmeal stout that I’d just add more oatmeal to make it fuller and slicker.

Bottle, shared with my wife. Classic stout appearance. Quite roasty, but unfortunately thin in the body. Decent flavours, roasted bitter finish. Missing the oatmeal here. Just okay.

Dark brown pour. Aroma is molasses, burnt malts. Body is thin with molasses and dark chocolate. Nothing big or overpowering with a slight burnt bitterness. Kind of boring.

Bomber. Very dark brown, off-white head. Nose is roast, metallic well water, coffee. Flavour is more small town water,, light choc and coffee. Alcopop levels of carbonation. So there are apparently people out there looking for fizzy stouts, who knew. I picked this up thinking it would be awesome... Red Racer has hardly failed me yet... now I think they should switch back to the old label, it’s a good representation of this beer’s hipness. Maybe put a wolf jumping over the moon on the bottlecap.

650ml bottle, dated 9-Dec-2013. Pours a deep dark brown with ruby highlights, large off white heads that hangs around; looks like a good English dark mild!! Aromas of chocolate, roasty malts, and a little licquorice, with herbal hops, and an almost lager aroma, too. Roasted grain, dark chocolate, hop bitterness flavours. Quite light bodied, thin texture, too much fizzy carbonation which kills my palate & the flavours. Dry, bitter finish. If it wasn’t for the carbonation, I could drink more of this due to its ’sessionable’ strength, but I just can’t palate fizzy stouts!

650ml brown bottle. Dark brown pour, red highlights. Big tan head with ok lacing. Nose has some chocolate malt and roasted malt and light hop note. Taste has roast and chocolate malt and some hop bitterness. End has roast malt and some lingering bitterness. Body is a bit light, carbonation soft. A good dry stout, would not mind drinking this again.

650ml bottle pours black in color with a finger and a half of light brown head that leaves some pretty decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted grains and chocolate. Taste is a roasted grain bitterness with a chocolate malty sweetness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A pretty solid stout that I recommend others to try.
