Nitro ruins another beer. On nitro tap at St. Augustine’s. Looks great, with dark brown and creaminess. And the creaminess in the mouthfeel, but the taste is sacrificed at the alter of looks and it is more milky, with the roast faded in the distance.

On tap at Central City Brew Pub. Pours a rich mahogany with a tan head. Aroma of stale malt, wood, fungus. Flavour is bitter and tastes stale - as though there is something wrong with it. Really thin and unpleasant. I never choose to not finish a beer, but gladly left this one.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 mcberko (2470) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 1, 2010
Sampled on nitro tap at Central City, pours dark amber. Flavour of toasted malts, wood, and some very off-putting flavours - paper (?), sand and a nasty bitter finish. Very strange - and terrible.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 GeneralGao (3545) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUN 8, 2009
Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown color with orange highlights. The head was tan and left a sheet of lace on the glass. Not much in the way of aroma other than a bit of flowery hop. Smooth and creamy mouth feel with low carbonation. Medium bodied and dryish with roasted malt and light flowery hop flavors. So so.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JAN 25, 2009
On draught at the Central City Brewpub in Surry, BC. Pours a clear dark brown amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of roasted caramel and Munich malt, a hint of floral hops and roasted nuts. Taste is medium bodied, nice balanced with roasted caramel malt, and floral hops. Finish has very little bitterness and just a hint of toasted caramel malt. I could not detect any oatmeal or any vanilla character. This is more like a brown ale than a stout.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - AUG 4, 2008
Draught at the brewpub, nitro Very dark brown color, with the usual creamy foam. Very light roasted malt aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, quite thin body, with a mild roasted malt flavor. Easy.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 crazychuck (16) - CANADA - JUL 19, 2008
Had this at a cask fest at CC Brewpub, and the recipe must have been different from the norm, since the body was quite full. The Vanilla & coffee battled it out in the nose, but the coffee roundly won in the tasting, with practically no hint of vanilla. Clean finish.

Light coffee aroma. Looks nice in the glass. Standard coffee and chocolate flavours. A bit thin on the malt.
