Mild, sweet grainy aroma with perhaps a touch of chocolate but nothing in the way of smoke. Clear dark brown body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, tan head that recedes to a partial cover with some light lace. Raisin and plum fruitiness with plenty of dark malt bitterness. Smoke is a suggestion in the aftertaste. Dry medium body with decent carbonation. It’s a pretty good brown ale, but "smoked" and "porter" are both lost on me. Sampled on cask at Dix Xmas Extreme Beer festival 2007.

Growler: Poured a dark ruby brown. Aroma was dusty chocolate. Flavour starts sweet then levels off and finishes with a dry smoky bitterness.

(Draught) Sampled at Dix X-mas Xtreme Caskival 2007. Pours a good coffee nose with a mild bourbon backing. Flavour is smoked with a strong roasted malt finish. Not my favourite style but this was pretty good.
