Draught at the brewpub Clean brown color; creamy head. Mild aroma, but the light cheesy touch is a plus. Smooth body, caramel flavor, quite low bitterness, but balanced overall. Quite good.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JAN 25, 2009
On draught at the Central City Brewpub in Surry, BC. Pours a clear dark brown brew with a decent tan head that slowly dissipates to a thin creamy top and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted dark malt, some light chocolate, molasses and some flowery hops. Taste is light to medium bodied, light in carbonation with flavors of roasted dark malt, flowery hops and a hint of chocolate. Finish is s little watery and very little bitterness with a toasted dark malt and mild chocolate aftertaste. More of a brown ale than a porter.

On tap at Central City Brewing. Dark brown with good beige head. Excellent lace. Sweet chocolate with bitter finish. Loved it - took a growler home for our beer group.

Tap at the Railway Club. Dark brown with a thick tan nitro head. The aroma is faint but shows hints of dark chocolate, toast, molasses, and a bit of roastiness. Flavour is a bit toasty, some molasses, dark chocolate, light earthiness in back of all the dark malts. Decent body. Very boozy flavour and the molasses notes get a bit sickening after awhile.

Dark brown and nitro head. Nutty, toasted aroma. Flavour was light caramel and nuts but what I did enjoy was a slight beef jerky like taste and smokiness. Chewy and enjoyable finish.

Golden brown with thick nitro head. Only a bit of toast in the virtually nonexistent aroma. Rounded coffee-toast palate with a hint of phenols retronasal. Muddled finish lacks any cohesive flavour or sense of purpose - thanks, nitrogen.
