3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 tiggmtl (4475) - Vancouver, - AUG 27, 2011
Pleasant balance between sweet malt and hops in the nose but it seems a bit sweet. Clear browned copper body is topped by a low off white head that recedes to a lasting cover. Somewhat syrupy in the sweet malts. Strong hop bitterness doesn’t quite offset the sweetness. Tasty but perhaps overly sweet. Carbonation is a bit low.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 patricks110 (913) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 20, 2012
Big, juicy, sticky and hot!!! Pours a bright orange golden in the body with an inch of fluffy yellowish head. The nose is sweet, resinous and fruity with big citrus and grapefruit aromas. A hint of honeyed sweetness and caramel bready malts in the middle. Grapefruity and tropical fruit hinted finish with increasing bitterness and a resinous smack on the finish. Bitter and prolonged in the aftertaste with a great resinous and full bodied mouthfeel. Overall, one of the best Imperial IPA’s I’ve ever had.

Draft sample. Pours cloudy deep orange, thin white head, soft lacing. Nose is big juicy apricot, spice, grapefruit, rich, lush, malt. Flavours of stonefruit, grapefruit, spice, really typical IIPA, but really well done.

Growler. Moderate head and lacing. Dark golden amber. Big woodsy hop nose. Big sugary malt flavour. Very drinkable. Not super double but amped up nicely.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - AUG 2, 2011
Draught at the brewpub Cloudy amber color; small creamy head. Good hoppy aroma, but it’s in the flavor that the hop really shines, with plenty of grapefruit; also very good toffee flavor, with moderate sweetness, perfect complement to this hopping; it has in the final a pleasant, sweet, country touch (grass and manure). Perfectly balanced, and fresh. Excellent.

My first pour at Hopapalooza II! Pours a solid amber with thin off white head. Aroma is potent with citrus, grapefruit and surprisingly ample caramel malt. Flavour is intensely hoppy, big citrus bite, grapefruit rind and yet a solid malt backing. Finish lasts a very long time, bracingly hoppy but full palate. Excellent IIPA, would LOVE to see this bottled and available more often.

On tap at the Alibi Room at Sloppy Seconds, pours golden amber. Wonderful aroma of caramel malts, grapefruit and citrus hops. Flavour is robust, heavy on grapefruit, huge citrus hops, balanced extremely well by huge caramel malts. Magnificently balanced, while still being a hop bomb. Most fantastic.
