Tap at The Jeffrey. Pours reddish brown with two finger head. Nose is hoppy with plenty of toffee. Tastes of toffee, dark fruits, molasses, some hops, and booze. Pleasant body and again not too sweet and drinkable despite abv.

On tap at Local Option in Chicago. Pour is a hazy reddish amber with a very find cream head with slight lacing. Smell is vanilla, caramel, picked run alcohol and dark fruit. Taste is caramel and vanilla with medium alcohol and prune finish. Very tasty, fantastic brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer has a wonderful vanilla bourbon aroma. It also has a clear red amber appearance with a very small light tan head that dissipates rapidly. Taste is vanilla, coconut, bourbon, and hops. Starts sweet vanilla bourbon and finishes with a hoppy bitterness. True American BW style. Palate is smooth with good carbonation. Overall an excellent BW. This bottle is about a year old.

Poured into snifter from a botte bought at West Lake View Liquors in Chicago a clear red caramel color with a tan head that left quite quickly. Aroma is boozy sweet thinking of toffee cocoa malts & every so faint hops. Flavor is classic American barley with lotsa hops & lotsa sweet going on here. English Barley wine is my preference but this is such a great ABW. Dark fruits hidden nicely behind the high booziness of the brew. Overall quite a delicious BW brew. Balanced but the hops fly high.

12oz Bottle. Pours a copper/red/brown. Aroma is of oak, malt and hops. Flavor is of malt, stale malt, oak, vanilla, alcohol, malt sweetness. All aspects, bitter sweet, malt, hops, alcohol, oak are all in a pretty good balance. Body a a bit then and the mouth feel is a bit like sweet tea. Some alcohol heat. Pretty good beer. ---Rated @ your Moms House.

Looks great with dark ruby and thin head. Smells of dark fruits, cherry, touch of barrel and alcohol. Same with flavor, smooth, sweet and cant wait to age

It’s just so mind blowingly good. Bourbon taste is super strong but it works so well with the beer. It’s one of the best bourbon barrel beers I have ever had. It’s freakishly delicious.

Probably one of the last times a barleywine will be consumed by me until next fall….Huge beautiful aroma, all coconut and vanilla and dried cherry. Rich red with very light lacing. Notes of coffee, more coconut, intensely sweet caramel, toffee, bananas foster / spicy banana bread, and then a heavy alcohol burn- this might be the bourbon barrels showing off- and slightly harsh pine needle finish. Sticky sweetness remains on my tongue. Just so much going on here, if the finish were smoother I think this would be a 4.5+. Excellent nonetheless.

Aroma is malts, mild fruit/funk and slightly perfumed. The flavor is malts, dark fruit, a hint of vanilla, spices and a tangy/alcoholic finish.

Murky, ruddy brown pour with a 1 finger, beige head that has good retention and initially leaves some oily lacing, that eventually goes away. Aroma is huge on toasty toffee and vanilla right away, then some caramel, hazelnut heavy nutty notes and dark fruits come in, mellow, but fairly strong oaky bourbon as well. Flavor is dark caramel, toffee, nutty notes and cooked tree fruit up front, then sweet bread spicy notes, dark rum, dark fruit, pumpkin bread crust, a little ginger-like spiciness and boozy, but pleasant oaky and vanilla laden bourbon. Heavy body, creamy to chewy feel throughout, with a light, but slightly too sharp carbonation. Damn good overall.
