Barleywine #50. Doin’ it in style! 2013 bottle from Homer321 poured on 5/21/14. Big thanks man! Pours murky brownish amber with a small creamy yellow khaki head. Big caramel toffee aroma with vanilla, raisins, dark fruits, sweet smooth bourbon, oak, very slight oxidation. Flavor is sweet caramel bourbon, oak, dark sweet fruit, and a huuuge vanilla marshmallow finish that lingers a good while. Plenty of carbonation and a chewy body with some nice booze bite.

Pours a clear amber with an average frothy well lacing head. Aroma is complex with notes of dark fruit, bourbon, wood, and a bit of spice notes. Taste is a balanced heavy sweet with a boozy finish. A great barleywine!

Bottle to glass. Pours a mostly clear deep amber to brownish color with virtually no head. Aroma is oak, vanilla, bourbon, malty sweetness. Flavor is molasses sweet, vanilla, boozy. Full creamy body with a lingering Bourbon vanilla character. Amazing.

Dark amber/caramel pour. Aromas of sweet malts, dates, brown sugar, oak, and bourbon. Flavor is malt forward with lots of dark fruit and bourbon character. Subtle oak notes in the finish. Abv is completely hidden as well. Respectable offering.

Reviewed from notes. Received in trade. The appearance was a half fingered white foamy head that dies within about a minute. Lacing is adequate and clings nicely around the glassware. The smell had apples and cherries dance in front of the malty sweet aspect of trying to add a decent spice to it, hmmmm...I like it. The taste had a nice sweet malty apple/cherry flavoring that adds to a nice super sweet malty apple/cherry aftertaste. The finish is super sticky and sweet. On the palate, it sits about a medium on the body with about a decent sipping barleywine that shows its good for the style (American or English, well, we’re just say that’s up for determine). Carbonation is good for the style and for me. Overall, this is good for me and good for the style. you know I would have this again.

Murky amber pour with a quick head. Aroma is dried fruit, coconut, tobacco, caramel. Flavour is vanilla, coconut, caramel. Definite bourbon accent. Earthy leathery, herbal hop. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2014 vintage bottle poured into a mini-snifter. Fantastic caramel color and aroma, toffee and dried fruit notes with a big boozy punch. Will be looking at this again within a year to see how it ages. Vanilla and bourbon flavors blend with the heat in the alcohol to provide a pleasant burn.

One of the better barleywines on the market. Bourbon and barley on the nose. Bourbon, barley, sweet spice, and a bit of vanilla on the palate. This one should age nicely.

12oz can pours cloudy dark reddish brown with a finger of head. Nose is boozy dark fruit, raisin, grape, fruity malt, bread. Taste is viscous bourbony fruit, dark bread, malty, caramel, booze. Finish is boozy bitter malty fruit, hints of barrel and pine.

Bottle. Murky brown pour with an orange hue on the edges. Slick of tan foam. Nice aroma with bourbon, vanilla, marshmallow, and underlying thicker sweet malt with raisin. Bourbon up front in the taste with some alcohol bitterness and smoother vanilla followed by assertive sweet malt with raisin, date, and plum. Finishes with lingering alcohol heat. Coating mouthfeel. Great beer - I really enjoyed how the bourbon compliments but does not completely drown out the underlying barley wine.
