12 oz bottle via trade but unfortunately I don’t remember from whom. Aroma on this one is great. Lots of sweetness from the barley wine, notes of honey..molassess..malts..and a slight touch of wax which I find in lots of BWs. From the bourbon barrel, vanilla notes..oak barrel..slight traces of bourbon upon warming. Palate on this one is very smooth especially considering the 11.2%, fuller bodied with good carbonation for a BW and a slightly chalky mouthfeel. Flavor is great with a fantastic marriage of sweetness and bourbon barrel... vanilla, oak, alcohol, mollassess, dried dark fruits, honey, toast. Wow I never heard any buzz or read any reviews about this beer so I wasn’t expecting much but....Wow, great stuff!!!

12oz bottle (Discount Liquors)-2008 bottle-Pours a hazy dark amber body with a small off white covering and ring for a head. The aromas make you want to just dig in. They have malt, caramel, slight bourbon, dried fruits, and toffee. Taste begins with malt and bourbon with a nice dose of vanilla contributing. It finishes with a bit of oak. This full bodied brew covers up the alcohol and is balanced very well. Not being a big fan of this style I have to say this is quite enjoyable and quite tasty.

2008 bottle, labeled as Bourbon Barrel Barleywine. Aged for nearly a year. Pours hazy, dark auburn amber in color. A small, foamy, beige colored head settles to a swirly film. A swish of the glass reveals dense, sugary, sudsy legging that leaves slow moving spots behind on the glass. The aroma is quite nice. The malt base shows dark toffee and caramel, with a bevy of bourbon soaked, dried dark fruits, such as cherry, fig, and raisin. Oak imparts its signature vanilla quality. The whole concoction takes on a sherry-like profile, alcoholic warmth coming through but not outdoing the malty, fruity sweetness. Flavors continue the theme, rich toffee and nougat showing along with cherries, raisins, and heaps of oaky vanilla, all saturated with a malty bourbon. Big bodied and syrupy, the sweetness conceals what is clearly a big alcohol content. Like the rest of the brew, the finish is very sherry-like, ending almost dry, with lingering fruit. This is a great barleywine, perhaps just a bit too warm, but otherwise rich and complex.

Deep ruby red with tight white lace and head. Deep raisins super sweet maltiness. Deep dried fruit sweet raisins and a very nice bitter. Solid medium bodied with carbonation being off just a tad for me. Wow fresh but a killer beer for me.

GABF 2007 as "Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine." Warm smells of butter rum, toffee, golden raisin, and a bit of sour bourbon. Really nice body in the mouth, buttery and bright, then sweet, then a bite of a weird herbal flavor, then a bitter and astringent hop finish that’s dry and just a bit chemical. The beginning of this beer (the smell and initial flavor) are much better than the finish, but it never gets bad, just kind of a letdown. Overall, very very solid beer.

Very very nice Barleywine. Pours a brownish-orange with a good looking head. Aroma is awesome, strong hops, lots of yeast, candy, and vanilla. Flavor is the same, with a strong yeast/wood balance. Everything works well. The actual bourbon is hidden very well, and adds to the flavor, with the wood taking center stage. Never would have guessed this was 11%. Delicious.

Bourbon Barrel Barleywine 2008. Pours tawny brown. With some tan head. Strong nose of toffee and cherry syrup vanilla and bourbon. Nice and robust. Flavor is strong on the bourbon with pleny of oak to go along. Rich creamy full body. Warm dry finish. Very well done.

Aromas of bourbon barrel, booze, caramel, toffee, vanilla, ripe fruits. Amber pour with a thin ring of bubbles. The flavor is pretty sweet with some oak tartness, alcohol, vanilla, and fruity malt sweetness. This was pretty damn enjoyable actually.

Courtesy of Fonefan. Vintage 2008, comes as Brewers Reserve Bourbon Barrel Barlwy Wine. It is red bronze and the head is creamy. The aroma is vinous and has notes of oak, vanilla, bourbon, raisin, caramel. The flavour has sweetness and notes of malt, bourbon, oak, vanilla, raisin, caramel and it ends with a slightly spicy bite. It hides the alcohol well.
