2012 vintage. Pours a deep ruby brown color with a finger of eggshell foam. The nose is powerful and complex. RIch brown sugar, toffee, caramel, sour cherry, fig, bourbon and warm spicy vanilla. On the palate it is soft on the front and a warm booze on the end... in the middle is a palate warming spicy bourbon, dark fruit plum, burnt sugar, touch of grassy bitterness and a long slow finish.

July 28, 2015. Bottle, vintage 2015, tasting at jtclockwork’s, thanks for sharing!
Hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet, malty with caramel, dark sugar, vanilla, prunes, figs, bourbon. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and slightly boozy. Finish is sweet caramel, some dried fruits, vanilla, warming bourbon notes. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation.

Muddy brown pour with a single finger tan head. Aroma of candy & coconut. It’s a bit oxidized, but it works. Taste is massively complex. Lots of candy, caramelized brown sugar, toffee, coconut, oak, vanilla and a hint of bourbon. Dry finish. Lace present. Full bodied.

Draught at Rattle & Hum, NYC. Dark mahogany/brown beer with a nice lasting beige head. Wonderful vanilla and wood aroma, raisins, figs, dades, grape notes, caramel and cream, biscuit notes, licorice, some prunes. Woody vanilla flavor, licorice, figs, caramel, raisins, prunes, grape notes, subtile hops, bourbon notes, spicy, some cream. A masterpiece with well hidden alcohol. Fantastic!

UPDATED: APR 2, 2016 12oz bottle from central ave liquor with commonmac during March madness. Plum with small white head. Very boozy aroma. Sweet, actually not as boozy as it smells initially, but alcohol burn hangs with you after. Complex. Full flavored. Oily liquor mouthfeel. Definitely bourbon throughout. More alcohol as it warms. Burns in your chest a bit. Good stuff, but maybe best enjoyed in small doses.

12 oz bottle picked up at Central Ave Liquors and consumed on Day 3 of March Madness at the house of commonshawn. Aroma helps to build the anticipation of a high alcohol, big bourbon barreled beer. Caramel and malt. Copper/mahogany in color. Off white head quickly dissipates. Taste is definitely aggressive. Tons of sugar/caramel/toffee elements. Strong alcoholic/boozy presence throughout the mouthfeel and especially at the finish. There are bourbon fingerprints all over this one. A box of cereal I really like comes to mind but I can’t quite determine which one it is. I would advise consuming in moderation but definitely worth a try.

Nice beep copper color, small khaki colored head fades quickly leaving a small ring. Bourbon dominates the aroma, which is ok by me. Flavor is caramel, toffee and raisin. Texture is smooth, almost creamy. Nice big boozy finish. Very nice!

Pours a dark amber. Has a strong caramel, malt, and fruit aroma. A strong taste of dark fruit, malts, caramel, and light vanilla. A lingering dark alcohol and dark fruit flavor.

From notes. Enjoyed at the 3rd Annual Barleywine Tasting at Travis’s house on February 20. 12 oz bottle. The pour is a nice dark copper color, almost brown, with a larger bubbly khaki colored head that falls to a collar leaving a couple spots of lace. The aroma is really heavy on the sweet bourbon. There isn’t a whole lot of barrel addition, and even the dark fruits and caramel seem to be missing. The caramel pokes through a little, but it’s just overshadowed by the sweetness of the bourbon. The flavor is a bit better. There is a nice molasses and caramel to go with a decent woodiness from the barrel. Not really any vanilla or char additions, and the bourbon flavor itself is still strong. The mouth feel is a little thinner, but it’s got a good balance. The carbonation is also a little sharper than I’d like to see. The aftertaste is lingeringly sweet and carries a hint of booziness. I’m not a big Central Waters fan, but this is definitely better than the BA stouts I’ve had from them.

Moderately dark brown/ruby color. Lightly carbonated. 1/2 inch tan bubbly creamy head that recedes slowly leaving thick lacing. Sweet whiskey aroma with hints of chocolate. Initial taste matches the aroma: sweet and bourbon. Thick and creamy mouth feel. The alcohol is detectable but not overbearing. Smooth taste with whiskey dominating, transitioning to some bittering in the finish. The aftertaste is moderately bitter bourbon that hangs around just the right amount of time. Excellent. Well done, CW.
