3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 21, 2013 2009 bottle from TPatuto. Thanks! 12 oz for me. A: Dark brown with a prune tint in the light. Thin ring of head after the pour foams to about a 1/4 inch. Sticky. Very sticky. N: Wow. Deep breather. Bourbon, oak, toffee, caramel, and vanilla. Raisins, molasses, and more bourbon. Lots of black licorice. This is layered and it threatens to suck you in and hold you in its folds. T: Sweet and bracing. Raisins and prunes. Toffee and caramels. There?s a coffee like bitterness that mixes with the hop spiciness. Very, very oaken. Candied pecans. Trucks full of black and licorice. Some oxidation, but it adds to the beer. Both sweet and yet balanced - there?s still quite a bitter element to this.M: Like someone forced you to eat a crayon (and not in a disgusting way.) This is sticky and viscous. O: I thought 3.5 years might have done this a disservice, but it?s still going quite strong. If I lived in WI, I would stock up on this and age it to this range. This is far better than fresh Mother of all Storms.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2011 bottle. Dark amber shade. Short head that disappears eventually. Bourbon and golden syrup aroma. Taste has mellowed but doesn’t feel especially aged. Plenty of caramel and brown sugar with fruits lurking. Very solid, but a bit lower than my expectations.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2015 bottle. Sweet coconut and vanilla aroma with a grape sweetness backbone. Huge flavor in this. Smooth up front with marshmallow malt, toasty but fades into sweet wine and then the barrel comes through with a tinge of alcohol and bourbon burn. Excellent.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared during Jack’s farewell bottle share at Craft Clerkenwell. Many thanks to Manny for this gem. Pours clear amber-gold with a foamy top. The nose is ripe with booze, toasted wood and ripening orange. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of bready malts, alcohol, crackers, hay and light caramel. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Hot finish with notes of toffee, pale wood, caramel and golden raisins. The beer is certainly heavy-handed but it has its moments.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to Manny G. It pours cloudy deep mahogany brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, sticky, a whole load of dried fruit, fruit cake, candied stuff, spice and generic bourbon character. The taste is rich, oily, spicy, quite hot from the booze, fruit cake, vanilla, oily, toffee, fruit cake and ginger bread with a warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Pretty hot if truth be told. Decent... if a bit harsh.
