2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany), split with Matts_Property, side-by-side with Bourbon Barrel Stout. Pours black with a reddish tinge and a quickly dissipating beige head. Aroma of soured cherries, bourbon and sort of a rum-like presence -- rum coated candies. Flavour is ruined by the cherries, which is quite artificial and medicinal tasting, destroying the complexities creating by the bourbon barrels. The harsh rum notes come in later, finishing with a boozy (hard liquor-like), sweet and sour cherry finish. Not a fan of the cherry and bourbon barrel combination.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a murky dark brown with fizzy cola type head that fizzles away quickly. The nose is rather nice, light bourbon and wood, rich chocolate and a light sticky caramel, faint cherry in the back. The flavor is a hint more bitter and less rich. The wood is underneath, a bit sweeter than I anticipated with more cherry and malt sweetness. The chocolate is less rich, more chocolate malt, bitter and fizzy in the back. A bit slick in the body and thins a touch in the finish. Interesting beer, they do some great stuff, this is decent.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
355mL thanks to CaptainCougar. The pour is a muddy mahogany with a weak tan head. Nose is sweet cherry, bourbon, small vanilla, sharp impending acidity. Taste has a lot of oud bruin character: tart acids, bourbon, spicy wood, but loads of sour lemon. Sort of an odd mix here. Certainly mutated into an oud bruin of sorts without permission, but still enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on 8/27/11 from a 12oz bottle purchased at Discount Liquor, 2010 Vintage. Pours a completely opaque, nearly black, dark brown with an average tan head that recedes quickly to nothing more than a thin collar of lace. The nose is a very unique blend of tart cherries, vanilla and maple bourbon, and darkly roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and molasses. The flavor is dominated more by the tart cherries than anything else, with the dark stout notes and vanilla bourbon lightly poking through on the back of the palate. The body is full, almost creamy, with light carbonation, and a long tart cherry, and vanilla oak and bourbon finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
4 oz pour on tap at Brickhouse (Madison, WI). Pours a pitchblack opaque dark pour, touch of light on the bottom with a frothy offwhite ring of head. Laces small. Aromas are rich bourbon spirit, vanilla, oak, and toffee. Touches of cherries, cocoa, and coffee. Rich and dark with sweet caramel, bread, and toast. Initial is fuller bodied, a healthy bourbon presence and sweet and tart cherries, tannins, vanilla, oak, and toffee. Cocoa, roasty malts, coffee. Sweeter and full overall. Into the backend, some spirit heat, warming, with a good dry bitter tannin presence. Sweet malts linger thick and toffee, cocoa, roast. Mmmmm. Full, the cherry is pleasant, the barrel is powerful. Vanilla, cherries, chocolate, and sweetness. Dry barrel tannins, spirit heat. Nice, perhaps it could use a touch of refinement and a deeper barrel or better barrel presence.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pour is dark brown and almost no head. Aroma of cherry with a slight booziness. Taste is strong of cherry, but not like the crappy cough syrup nor too much like a wine. Also present is a good bourbon flavor with some oak and hints of vanilla and toast. Palate is dry and carbonated but not overly so. Body is light but flavor is full. Great beer. Thanks to bvery for the 12oz, 2010 vintage.
