Bottle from Matty and Marks. (RIP, best beer bar EVER!!) Pours a deep dark brown with slight tan head. Aroma is cherry centric with bits of spice, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is a cherry cordial. The cherry is front and center which is awesome for this style. Loads more dark chocolate, honey, vanilla, whiskey bite and lavender. Overall, outstanding stout that I actually would consume again. This would be a rad beer to introduce others too that are BMC people.

Thin, light brown head with decent retention and minimal lace. Dark brown, ruby hued color. nose of cherries, light tobacco and a hint of of booze. Body is medium with a soft carbonation. Light cherry flavors with tame whisky notes, lil lumber with some chocolatey notes. Dry finish with a little sour cherry note. Interesting.Bottle from MOTORTODDHEAD. Thanks bro!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 b3shine (211) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 14, 2012
2012 vintage. Bottle to snifter (thanks, elkhunter36). Looks decent; a little thin compared to the BBS. Smells Pretty good; subtle notes of bourbon and cherries (which I’m sure will become more pronounced as the beer warms up). Tastes Good, but VERY cherry forward; I think age will serve this well (same for the palate). Still, tasty stuff.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 DeputyAndy (466) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Bottle courtesy of Tony. Split with friends. Pitch black pour with a mocha-ish head. Aroma is heavy cherry flavoring. Some smokiness coming through. Taste is a great mix of chocolate and cherries. Really silky mouthfeel compliments it very nicely.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jlruthven (377) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle. Pours opaque black, cappuccino head with slight red glint when swirled. Nose is tart cherry mixed with smooth bourbon, good stout base. Up front the taste is more stout-forward, but segues into a nice blend of vanilla and cherry. Thin mouthfeel. A bit uneven, but good.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hombrepalo (1401) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of cherries, chocolate, oak, spicy. Tastes tarte and spicy with some chocolate hints on the finish. Decent, but the cherries take away from the body of the beer and the bourbon is barely perceivable.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 budznsudz (34) - Audubon, New Jersey, USA - APR 27, 2012
Pours dark with a hint of red. Has a nice 1 finger biege head with decent lacing. Smells like ripe cherries and oak. The taste is very pleasant indeed. I’m getting dark cherry, vanilla, oak and a touch of bourbon. Not too fruity which is ok in my book. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Very nice.

Originally reviewed: 7/16/09. Bottle received as a very thoughtful extra from akokandy (BA) in a recent trade. Thanks, Adam!
Pours a thick deep black with a very thin tan head on top. No lacing whatsoever. Smells of oak, vanilla, big booze, coffee, and gingerbread.
The mouth is a tad thinner than I would like. Flavor is of vanilla, ridiculous amounts of bourbon, smoked wood, and finishes slightly tart and sour. This is not the most drinkable beer out there for sure. I’ve been sipping this one for over 45 minutes. It’s a treat nonetheless.
