Muddy brown, not much head. Mild vanilla and milk chocolate aroma. Starts a bit fizzy, then typical barrel aged flavors open up - oak, vanilla and in the aftertaste bourbon. Actually I was suprised to read later that this is 9.5 %, almost watery palate - barrel ageing makes this drinkable, base beer here is nothing special. BDR (2154), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Bottle from Ughsmash (thanks!). There’s no getting away from it - this beer smelt odd. The bourbon was there as expected. But the overpowering smell of meaty gravey granules and cabbage were not, I suspect, part of the brewer’s plans. It was so off I passed it to my wife to smell for a second opinion. She screwed up her nose and suggested "farts".
Flavourwise there’s a nice buttery streak of caramel running through the beer, with refined chocolate and coffee hints. Ultra smooth mouthfeel with a dash of bourbon that gives a warm afterglow as it makes its way down the throat.
OK stout, but the farty blowback every time I took a sip took the edge of the enjoyment factor.

Nice slightly red balck head with very little head. Very nice ripe fruit, caramel, toffee, candi sugar like sweetness. Wow! Great full mouthfeel with light carbonation and a nice ripe fruit sweetness and caramel is very dominanant. This is a wonderful beer that is not pure bourbon, bu tinstead is like a sweet stout with hints of caramel. This is frickin awesome. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark
