aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA May 22, 2006 This dark brown stout is a bit sour. The bourbon is overridden by acid, but the effect is actually pretty interesting and not bad at all, at least if you’re a fan of the Flemish sours. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA May 22, 2006 Muddy red brown with a mild gray head. Smells of oak, cherry, lactobacillus, and grape bubbleyum. Thick chocolate flavor with a strawberry sour. Finish is powdery with more cocoa and light booze.

AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 22, 2006 Dark brown in color with a relatively thin head that is tan and darkens at the edges. Big, incredibly round, but not complex aroma of sweet malt, milk, and warm, dark fruit. Overall a sourness taints the flavor profile of this beer and allows nothing to show itself properly. It reads ’keep refrigerated’ on the label. Something must have continued to ferment in this that is not necessarily positive to this beer. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA May 21, 2006 (12oz bottle, thanks SpringsLicker) Clear brown-black body with beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, some bourbon. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolate, some vanilla/bourbon. Watery medium-full body. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA May 20, 2006 Got this in a trade, TheEnemy! Thank you thank you. Pour was black gold. Small tan head. Nose had hints of coffee and roasted malts and hints of wood and bourbon. The first taste was bourbon, wood, earthiness. As this warmed, the carbonation carried coffee and chocolate to all ends of the mouth and palate. The strong coffee taste takes over mid-way thru, and always the lingering bourbon. The complexity is beyond my humble attempt at expressing it. I am really glad to have sampled this brew. This is very well made , balanced and subtle. There is only a hint of the 9.5%. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 10, 2006 Bottle: Black with a thin tan head. Not a whole lot going on in the aroma for me, a little chocolate, and a bit of bourbon but not much else. Flavor had some roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate and some bourbon. Medium boddied. I enjoyed it, but I was expecting a little better. JensenTaster (1585), Denmark May 8, 2006 (on bottle, thanx René) Oily thick, micro beige head. A mellow burnt malt aroma along with vanilla, wood and a tad og rye. Tatste is first a jaunt, a gentle one, of the bourbon, a bit out of balance with the nose. Then loads of rich malts, and a very smooth, slightly acidic finish. A finish of plums and coffebeans, with some wood too. ½ way into the bottle, the bourbon got very dominating and since I don´t like bourbon, it turned me a bit off. A handfull for sure. badHUMAN (3), USA does not count May 6, 2006 this is an awsome beer. Its the best beer in wisconsin or the world. its hand crafted by real people with real passion for beer. no fancy names or gimmics. The 2005 batch was a bit off due too only 3 months of aging.
