A mellow burnt malt aroma along with vanilla, wood and a tad og rye. Tatste is first a jaunt, a gentle one, of the bourbon, a bit out of balance with the nose. Then loads of rich malts, and a very smooth, slightly acidic finish. A finish of plums and coffebeans, with some wood too. ½ way into the bottle, the bourbon got very dominating and since I don´t like bourbon, it turned me a bit off. A handfull for sure. badHUMAN (3), USA does not count | 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | May 6, 2006 this is an awsome beer. The 2005 batch was a bit off due too only 3 months of aging. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 5, 2006 The pour is dark brown but looking at it through the glass, it’s completely black. Just a little bit of lacing around the edge. Aroma is bourbon, oak, carmel, and coffee. A slight sourness at first in the flavor that gets somewhat covered by roasted malts and chocolate with a good bit of bourbon and alcohol in the finish. A slight dry oak overtone throughout. Pretty good, but that bit of sourness sort of ruined it for me. walleye (879), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2006 Updated: Jan 12, 2007Pours a deep black with a nice 1 finger tan head. Aroma is strangely weak. A touch of bourbon and some grassy hops notes is about all i can smell. Body is a tad bit thin, but very smooth. Flavor starts off with nice bourbon and roasted malts, fades to an oaky vanilla, and then to a nice rich chocolately finish. Much better blanced than GD Oak Aged Yeti or Founders Kentucky Breakfast which really overpowered witih the oak flavor. beerguy101 (3872), Newark, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 20, 2006 This Imperial Stout pours a eclipse black color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. A medium bodied Imperial Stout. Malts are chocolate and roasty, lots of coffee, vanilla and bourbon flavors as well. Nice smooth tasting stout Good roasty malt flavors, the barrel aging adds some nice subtle vanilla, oak and bourbon flavors to the beer. I sort of like that its not over the top in your face taste. Hides the alcohol very well, although both the alcohol and bourbon flavors intensify as the beer warms. Very nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter roasted malts. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Mix them and youve got something very special. Pours out black with a small tan head. Flavor is malty with hints of chocolate. Finishes up with a nice hit of bourbon. Aroma is oaky and that of bourbon. Great brew. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2006 First - wanted to try this for quite some time. Pours out brown in color. There is alot of bourbon going on here, perhaps too much for me to like it due to the fact that I got sick on that stuff quite a bit in college. I have another bottle which I plan to sit on for quite some time to see how the flavor develops. This is something worth trying, not really something I would want to delve into again. Thanks alot John for the opportunity to try this!
