Sweet aroma, hints of sugar and molasses. Taste is very complex, burbon, coffee and chocolate notes. Great beer!

12oz bottle from Thomashall. Very dark brown with a mocha head that mostly fades. Strong bourbon, vanilla, oak, some butter, roasted and semi-burnt malt, bitter sweet chocolate, caramel, full body, mild+ carbonation, initially sweet and boozy, becomes slightly bitter, thick malty, buttery and bourbon taste, very bourbon forward overall so if that is your thing you will like this a lot.

2011 bottle. Brown pour with tan head. Dark malt, sweet tones, light bourbon aromas. Sweet vanilla, chocolate and roasted flavors. Pretty mellow, time has done well.

Big thanks to Dean for bringing me this from Madison. Had the 2011 and 2014 side by side, also had the 2014 cherry. Very interesting to see 2011 v 2014 differences. 2011 had more malt to it and the age took away some of the carbonation. Not much of a nose on either of these, but great flavor once on the palate. Little bit of chocolate very smooth and not syrup-y. Light hints of booze, a very enjoyable beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drinking the 2014 from a snifter. Decent lacing and head. Wonderful bourbon and caramel nose. A little hot, but great flavors of chocolate, caramel and toffee. A little sticky, but smooth. Overall one of the better bb stouts out there.

we make beer with all types of flavor profiles added in. these are usually things we like. well we like pizza, do we make a beer that tastes like pizza? probably, but thats not a great beer and this is also not a great beer. because it tastes like strong bourbon and to me that is not something that denotes greatness. to me if you make a really good stout and use bourbon to accentuate the beer aaahh then you have done something. perhaps a really great beer that tastes only like asparagus would be great and educate me on this issue.

Poured from bottle. Eye-watering aroma of bourbon, vanilla, oak and malt. Stout black with trace of tan head. Tasting roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, bourbon (I wonder if those barrels were completely empty when they added the beer), and maybe some dried fruit. Alcohol noticed in back. Creamy feel - not too dry or sweet. Mellows as it warms. Excellent stuff.

Sweet, malty, yet bland in every category compared to similar stouts yet I wouldn’t buy this one because is not significant in any category

Pours a deep dark brown with near zero head......aroma of booze, coffee.....taste is booze, coffee, chocolate, lays a bit flat on the tongue with a bit of residual sugars. Slight vanilla at the very back end.
