3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: The beer pours a dark, dark brown with a thin layer of tan colored head.
S: Big time bourbon with lots of wood to it. Moderate roast character and some nice dark chocolate and hints of dark fruits. Only a mild vanilla character with perhaps even a bit of licorice.
T: Dark chocolate and bourbon dominate up front. A very strong wood flavor and some dark fruit and licorice. Molasses and toffee provide an additional sweetness. Mildly warm/alcoholic, but nothing unpleasant.
M: Medium in body with a medium but smooth carbonation.
O: Perhaps not quite as good as the bourbon barleywine, but still solid, like almost all Central Waters beers.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 21, 2007 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pitch black with a small, creamy, beige head unless held up to bright light... then the beer’s beautiful, ruby hue is revealed. Light lacing. The aroma is of raspberry and chocolate coffee, dried plum, vanilla, wood, light bourbon and hickory smoke. The well-balanced flavor is of espresso, mellow bourbon, dark chocolate and charred wood. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, burnt, dry finish. World class beer! Thanks to CaptainCougar for the bottle!

12oz bottle (good thing Rich had a bunch of these to open up and pass around). Poured a dark and cloudy brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of bourbon, wood, vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts. Tastes of bourbon, vanilla, roasted malts, roasted malts and coffee. Call me a BA sucker (especially Bourbon), but I liked this one.

Bottle. This beer would be good if it didnt have that persistent lactose sourness to it. Infected? I almost dont think so. Oh well.

Dark with abundant initial head, bourbon malt and alcohol aroma, and some stout. Very smooth and refreshing with a regular meal. Some coffee, well malted, vanilla, chocolate, prominent and not overbearing bourbon. A lovely beer, courtesy of Captain Couger in Atlanta.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to pepsican. Different label, but it still read "Brewer’s Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout". Pours with a fading tan head over a deep black-brown body. Aroma of bourbon, charred wood, vanilla, chocolate, maple and a bit of smoke. Taste is a bit of sour malt, chocolate, wood, bourbon. Finish is a bit lactic, possibly bugged. Watery mouthfeel for an Imperial stout, light carbonation.
