12oz bottle, it is non-vintaged, but I’ve had it since 09. Pours out a nice rich black color, great coffee color head. Aromas are a bit one-sided but rich bourbon, mocha, vanilla. Everything is great until the palate. I’m not sure if this was just a bad bottle, or maybe this shouldn’t have gone this long, but it has had proper storage. Palate from entry to finish is sherrified, vinegar, and it literally stings across the palate. Bourbon is stretched thin across the palate. I really want to re-rate this fresh.

Pitch black pour with semi-creamy mocha colored head and lacing. One of the best bourbon barrel stouts I’ve ever smelled. Vanilla, oak, chocolate, bourbon and coffee are all there and all very good in the flavor. This is a very good beer.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of dark bread, toasted, dark chocolate and strong coffee, light to moderate resin for the hops, moderate earth for the yeast, with prune, nutmeg, vanilla, cola, postum and bourbon. Head is small, creamy/frothy, light brown, with fair lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy to syrupy, with a soft carbonation and a moderate alcoholic and sticky finish. Complex, if sweeter flavors and a rich feel make this a Imperial Stout to go back to anytime.

Nose is rich roast, spice, chocolate, tar, fruit rinds, booze waft. Taste comprises rich fruit peel, toffee, light spice, tar, wooden notes, dark maltings, chocolate. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Solid BA impy.

Bottle shared during Jack’s leaving drinks in London. Thanks to Padraig for this one. Pours clear, deep brown with a foamy tan head. The nose holds burnt grains, wheat, cereal and chocolate. Medium to heavy sweet flavor, with cheap-tasting chocolate, faint earthy bitterness, burnt grain, berries. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with notes of milk chocolate and further charred grains. Good one.

Bottle thanks to Padraig. It pours dark brown/black with a small tan head. The nose is soft, juicy, vanilla, toasted coconut, dried fruits, Eccles cake, toasted brown sugars and nougat. The taste is rich, hard roast, mild acidity, decent hit of bourbon, salted liquorice, some boozy boost, vanilla and earthy coffee with a dry finish. Medium - full body and average carbonation. Doesn’t wow me, but it is a decent BA imperial stout nonetheless.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2015 Bottle shared thanks to kermis. Almost black with short lasting beige head. Really strong bourbon up front with lots of vanilla icecream, some dark chocolate, ripe berries and dried peach, light coffee in the finish. Very sweet with soft roasted bitter finish. Medium bodied with a bit thin feel but at the same time sticky feel on the lips. Strong on the bourbon, but quite enjoyable.
