Pours a hazy orange with sediment with thin head and good lacing. Aroma is balanced with juicy grape and sweetbread malt. Taste is malt forward for an IPA, with an earthy, caramel, malt beginning, hops play second fiddle in the middle as the malts turn spicy, then becoming a little more balanced in the end with the rind in the aftertaste. Taste is very toasty in the finish and aftertaste. Palate is pretty thick, but just a bit too carbonated and filling.

Bottle from Brook Falls Discount. Pours an unclear coppery orange with a white head leaving spots of lace. Aroma has pine & grapefruit. Taste is of tangy pine, bittersweet orange and bitter grapefruit. Some resin and some caramel malt presence back. The tastes are all in a muddle - nothing clean about them so the parts sound better than the whole. Medium bodied. Finishes sweetly bitter. Shrug? Old bottle possibly but generally Central Waters has a ways to go with their hoppy stuff.

CanIHave4Beers (3228) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - JUL 30, 2013
Draught @ Central Waters Brewery.

The beer pours a golden color with a medium well retained head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is clean; it’s got some hop fruitiness, some floral stuff... lot’s o’ malt leaving it a touch sweet smelling.

The flavor is fairly bitter and floral, not overly sweet... and nowhere near as sweet as the aroma lets on. The beer is not especially exciting; it is also not especially bad or anything.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.; thanks drowland). Looks solid; a hazy deep orange with thin off-white head. Smells of bitter hops with a very malty backbone. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Grandpa’s IPA.
