2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 madvike (1475) - Middleton, USA - FEB 6, 2011
Bottle from a sample pack, bottled in Nov 2011. Sigh...thought these mix packs were newer and this would be fresher. Sorry Central Waters--this review would probably be better if this were fresher. It pours beautifully--a huge foamy off-white head on top of a cloudy amber body. Light herbal hops on the nose, with a strong floral and perfume presence. Not a lot of malty notes. The taste--wow this is malty, with very little hops to back it up. Sweet and caramelly, with an herbal hop finish that transitions into a lightly bitter grassiness. It’s pretty limp, and leaves a lingering slickness on the mouth that isn’t really pleasant. Would like to try this fresh, but I’m not going out of my way.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Bottle:   Caramel looking, thin sudsy white head, so-so lacing.   Stale malty aroma, slight caramel, a bit of tartness as well.   Tart caramel and citrus hop profile.   Might have a little bit of age on it.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Hop bitterness is muted.   Features a caramel like finish, but with a candyish tartness.   A bit more tart than bitter.   Thanks for the bottle Bob!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scipio (185) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - MAY 10, 2012
Pours a red with a white head. Rather complex aroma consists of orange, mango, plum, caramel, and pineapple, yet is still a bit earthy as well. Unusual, yet good. The taste has a different feel as well. Grapefruit appears here, and has lots of pineapple. Grassy taste to go along with some resiny undertones. But with all of these things, the taste is somewhat lacking. This does not have my hoppy bite that I like to look. Medium body, sticky texture, with a bitter aftertaste. Odd IPA . Good to try if you are looking for something different in this style.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 thegreenrooster (2525) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - APR 28, 2012
Pour is a amber with a small white head. Aroma is a nice pine hop with a caramel malt. Flavor is more malt dominated. Big caramel malt followed by a decent enough hop profile. Malts dominate the hop and this is more of a British style pale ale more then anything. Still a decent drinker with a malty backbone.

Pour is cloudy dark copper. Aromas of rich honey, malts, tangy hops. Minimal lace, small to medium head. Taste is a nice balance of malt and hops. Alcohol barely noticeable. Not bad.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 kaser (237) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 18, 2012
Bottle poured orange with hardly any head but the little bit stuck to side of glass throughout. Light aroma, not much smell. Tasts is unique - earthy, malty and not overly hoppy as bottle describes. Easy drinking.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Spookgolds (236) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 17, 2012
Bottle from craft beer outlet. Pours a hazy amber color. This ipa is ok, the malt backbone definitely overpowers the hops, although I can still pick them up a little bit. Just ok, but I wouldn’t call it a hopheads dream.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 KickInChalice (771) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 12, 2012
From notes. First reviewed 11/5/2011. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Glacial Trail IPA pours a full golden color with a hazy amber center. Some small resplendent carbonation refreshes a medium sized off-white froth, leaving some lace down the sides of the glass.
The aroma is slightly restrained and slightly on the malty side. Toasted malt, earthy and peat notes, spicy and a bit of grapefruit zest in a hop bitterness.
In the flavor, toasted bread and light caramel malts, some earthy notes, and a bit of a citrus hoppy twist toward the end. A bitterness starts to build toward the end but peters out.
This is not an overly bitter IPA, but there is a little bit of hop residue left after each sip to go along with a slight tingle on the lips from the pine. The body drinks a bit heavier than the ABV, with a creamy carbonation and a bit of a grainy feel.
This is a fairly mild but pleasantly drinkable IPA.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ibrew2or3 (4914) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 3, 2012
Sweet bonus IPA from a recent trade, thank you. The 12oz bottle pours semi opaque copper with gold hues and thin off white to light tan head. The modest aroma offers up spicy hops, earthy hops and some citrus hops. The aroma seems a bit blunted by its modest strength. The taste has a mix bag of grapefruit like citrus hops mixing with a fairly big earthy to spicy hoppiness that creates an herbal grassy somewhat bitter hop sensation. It is a little different but I am enjoying it. It just caries on that way being a bit of the watery side right into the finish with largely bittering hops as opposed to flavor hoppiness. Enjoyable IPA for sure.
