thomson1 (7), Illinois, USA does not count Nov 4, 2009 Smelled delightful, but poured with a load of sentiment that eventually sat on the palate. clingman71 (238), Centerville, Ohio, USA Nov 1, 2009 12 oz bottle, pretty average amber color, but a lively slightly off-white head, great lacing. Aroma is fruity and citrusy over sweet malt. Flavor starts with aroma qualities, and builds with a slight bitterness building as some pine and spice liven things up a little. This is a really solid beer, but not a great IPA. it sort of falls short to the great IPAs, but is better than most APAs, in the opinion of this hophead. I would like to try this fresh on tap. 12 oz bottle from my trip to Wisconsin for GTMW. Pours a golden amber, light and lively, well hazed, moderate bright white head that laces well, stays at a decent layer. Aromas are some citrusy hop appeal, piney resinous qualities, some malty caramel notes, flowers, a nice bitterness. Initial is medium bodied, a solid hoppy bitterness, of grapefruit, pine, and flowers, a good bitterness. Malty caramel, toffee, and pale malts strike a decent sweetness, do their best to balance. A bit bitter overall, but still quite quaffable and not an amazing display of hops. Quite drinkable, fairly well balanced. Citrusy, a good body for what it is. barleyPops (1078), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Oct 2, 2009 pours a medium copper color with a big foamy white head. aroma is some light malt with some herbal hops. flavor is unlike any IPA I’ve sampled...unfortunately I don’t mean this in a good way. the hop bitterness of this brew is dull and muted. I love the CW BW’s, but this just did not do it for me. beernbourbon (228), chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2009 Bottle. Pour is dark cloudy orange with a smaller white head. Aroma is faint rotten pumpkin, pine hop, light malt, and light toffee. Flavor is a bit more watery than expected, lightly hoppy, light black pepper, light malt. Light lots of faint flavors. It’s extremely drinkable, it leaps into my belly. The flavor is more enjoyable with every sip, just a bit light. Beardface (976), Eugene, Oregon, USA Sep 12, 2009 12 oz bottle from trade. Poured a light copper color with a big, fluffy white head which left huge chunks of lacing on the glassware. Aroma was mild citrus hop with some light pine and a decent backing of caramel malt. Flavor was a little tame for a West Coast hop head like myself, muted citrus and pine hops with a little too much malt. Not terrible, but not my favorite type of IPA. BBB63 (4179), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 30, 2009 Bottle and served in GI IPA tulip: Coppery hue with a big fluffy off-white head which left excellent lacing, yep it is bottle conditioned alright, lots of floaties in my pour. The aroma heavy juicy fruit gum, lots of citric notes as well as grassy and herbal vapours, biscuity and caramel malts, and a hint of mineral water. The taste is not nearly as hoppy as the nose let on, much more in balance of acidic fruity hops and sweet malts. Minor peppery hop spice finish. The mouth feel is lively and crisp, good body for style and a tad chewy with the floaties. All in all it is a solid IPA for sure jjkuck10 (36), , Wisconsin, USA Aug 24, 2009 Apperance is strong red-orange color with off-white/tan head. Aroma is hoppy with some malt, some pine, grassy, and citrus as well. Taste is malty with strong hoppy flavor, some sweet early on of carmel and toasted grain, moving to a bitter finish.
