holdenn (1431), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 19, 2008 12 oz bottle from Steve’s in WI. Pours an orange amber with a off-white creamy head. Nose is light with pine and some caramel malts. The flavor is mostly pine that comes on strong and allows a few caramel malts to come through. The piney bitterness is long lasting though slightly astringent. A simple IPA of caramel and pine but a decent beer. noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 13, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009Hazy red amber with visible sediment, a rocky, kakhi-colored head sticks around for the duration and leaves chunks of lace all down the glass. Aroma is piney hops, but a little weak. The hop flavor is full bodied though: coniferous hops at the front, turning towards grapefruit and then a soapily bitter finish. Juicy mouthfeel, creamy when it includes some of the head. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 24, 2008 Pour is lightly hazed deep reddish amber with a thin but very dense and sticky light brown head...smell is citrus and fruity with some faint floral notes....taste is caramel sweet at first, turning nicely grapefruit and soapy bitter toward the finish....this is much better than the ratings indicate...nice lingering bitter flavor... Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 14, 2008 Pours a copper color with a large frothy off-white head, which fades quickly and leaves a bit of bubbly lacing. Aroma is floral, a bit of citrus, and some piney hops. Taste is about the same with a balance of malts. Not too bad.....could be an all right staple IPA. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 12, 2008 Updated: Sep 13, 2008Pours a rich copper color with think frothy head. Aroma is of citrus and floral hops. Nothing really strong or forthcoming in the aroma, but it’s an IPA aroma nonetheless. Taste is floral and piney hops with a nice malt backbone. Palate is a bit astringent but it’s overall enjoyable and easy to knock back. msante79 (778), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours hazy burnt orange with white head. Aroma is floral hops, citrus, pine and some malt. Flavor is hops, citurs and some caramel malts. Finishes dry and bitter with thick mouthfeel. Not a bad IPA but nothing great either. A nice brew to enjoy on a hot summer day. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Sep 6, 2008 Good. Brown color and a short white head. Mild hop aroma. There is bread and medium-bitter hops, with citrus and pine. Medium palate. Good, mild burn from the hops. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 5, 2008 Things starts off great with this one as it pours a deep, mostly clear golden amber with bubbles rushing quickly to the top. The head retention is fantastic and leaves massive sheets of lacing. It’s a damn good-looking beer. The aroma is pretty muted but good with piny hops up front with a hint of citrus as well. There is a sweet malt aroma in the background as well, with hints of caramel. The taste follows the aroma and has citrus hops up front with grapefruit and some grassy hop flavors up front. The malt backbone makes an appearance before a big, slightly harsh pine bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is relatively full bodied with tons of carbonation and a dry, almost too bitter, finish. This is a decent, though not extremely complex IPA that makes for a good sessionable summer brew.
