Bottle. 11/2/13. Pours translucent straw-gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma is fruity, caramel, citrus, berries, bread. Smells like a barleywine. Taste is surprisingly big, bitter, aggressive, especially considering the ABV; dry, dark berries, alcohol, resin, slightly vinous; finish is subtle, dry bitterness and berries. Interesting. Beautiful lacing. Light mouth feel. Medium-low carbonation. Interesting, but not something I would seek out to buy.

Pours orange copper color with small white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and resin. Orange citrus flavor with hint of caramel, pine, and some resin. Very nice beer. Very full. Good lacing.

Itís October so probably a little late in the year to be picking up a summer seasonal but this has held up pretty well. This is a great big, hoppy brew w/ only 4.5% alcohol. Thatís a way of brewing I can really get behind. This pours golden orange in the glass w/ a long lasting but thin head of very fine white bubbles, which leave behind lots of lace. The nose is pungent and piny, hops all the way. There is a touch of sweetness up front but it wanes to a dry, crisp finish w/ loads of resinous hop bitterness. Texture is light and drinkable but the strong flavor keeps it interesting. This is very well done across the board.

Opaque yellow with a lacing head. Malt base with mildly bitter hops. Full flavor, and a good American pale ale. Some dry, bread finish.

Aroma is citrus, malts and a hint of baking spices. The flavor is citrus, malts, very spicy, a small hint of hop resin and mild heat in the finish.

12 ounce bottle
Picked up at Steveís in Madison during the Great Taste of the Midwest I was happy to open this a few days later. One of the better Central Waters pale ales would have been worth grabbing a six pack of if I had known how fresh it was. I will have to keep my eyes out when it comes back around in 2014.

Aroma / Appearance - A bronze transparent base swirls peacefully around the glass. The color of polished pennies, it shines in the fading sunset. Pineapples, mango, and bright fresh hops give it the feel of a jungle composed of equal parts palm trees and pine cones.

Flavor / Palate - Pine cones dipped in chocolate warm the tongue. Orange glaze sweetens the mouth before carrying into an oaky bitter finish. Creamy and resiny it is a top notch release and a great value. There may be better session IPAs out there but for the Wisconsin crowd this one is up there with the best.

I had this after Deschutes Inversion, which is an IPA, but I didnít know that this wasnít an IPA. By comparison, it is much more an English "hop driven beer" in character, which is to say, it has lots of grains, malts, and some rich backbone. Fluffy palate. Decent. (bottle, 2013 Ale Jail festival, St. Paul, MN)

pours a clear gold/orange with a medium white head...nice lacing. aroma has notes of citrus...grapefruit and pineapple...as well as a bit of pine. flavor is more grapefruity with a touch of spice...some earthy/biscuity notes...pine creeps in. mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is dry and earthy/piney.

had this in the bottle and wasnít thrilled but tried again on draft at Happy Gnome and was converted. surprised I didnít like out the first time out as Central Waters do great stuff. floral pine nose, slightly sweet start with a bitter but not too bitter finish, slight melon after taste - more muskmelon than grapefruit. comparison to Founders all day pretty much on, this is slightly better as others have commented.

2013-08-17. Crisp golden orange body with a small white head. Aroma is mild but has a pleasant muddled hop character with muted mild citrus notes. Flavour is pleasantly bitter, with similar moderate citrusy hops throughout. Average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Enjoyable and quite quaffable but Iíd like a little more oomph all around from the hops. On tap at Campground Brewdown.
