Orange pour with a nice white head. Juicy grapefruit peel, resin hops, light herbal notes. Flavor is nice and bitter but balanced by some tropical fruit notes and honey hints. Good stuff.

A floral aroma, a nice head initially with lacing, but went down quickly, mildly bitter taste, but good on the palate, overall a good beer that I would enjoy again.

Pours deep burnt orange with off white head. Aroma is citrus, florals and caramel. Taste was sweet with good amount of bitterness. Somewhat more malty then expected...maybe due to age. Oily mouthfeel.

Hazy glowing orange with a long lasting white head. Strong aroma of floral and candy-like hops, pine resin, and caramel. Sweet, similar flavor with alcohol warming and a very bitter finish.

Bottle from Steve’s Mineral Point, Madison. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus, resin and floral hops, caramel and lightly toasted malts. The taste is citrus, resin and herbal hops with toffee malts. Medium bodied.

Koelschtrinker (7054) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - OCT 12, 2011
Dunkel hopfiger Antrunk, der bereits einen gewissen Alkoholgehalt erkennen lässt. Zitrus, dunkles Malz, aromatischer, sich aber unterordnener Hopfen. Vollmundig, in Teilen sogar recht schwer. Grapefruit, fruchtig-würzig, weiterhin angenehmer Hopfen. Ein wenig scharf, zum Ende steigt der Hopfenanteil und bietet auch grasige Noten. Gut! 8/11/11/12/10/12

Bottle. Sweetness and alcohol in the nose, fruity and inviting. Murky orange body with a nice, off-white head and a frothy lace. One of those brews that tastes very much like it smells. Alcohol masks any discernible hoppiness, although you know the hops are there. Very enjoyable brew that has all the elements you need in a beer that puts you in your happy place: sugar, balance, hops and warming alcohol. Central Waters may not be known for their hoppy ales, but they have a winner in Illumination.

Bottle split with Ken and VI. Pours a hazy golden body with nice white head. Aroma is fresh, fresh citrus and pine. Mouthfeel is nicely balanced with notes of pine hops, citrus, floral flavors, and lemon.

This is a palate bruising hop bomb when you try it 5 days after its release. I suspect it could stand to mellow out a touch, say over a month or so. A solid offering at a fair $9.99 a 4 pack

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, citrus, orange, nectarine, and some florals. Poured amber/orange in color with a small, dense, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Hazy. Sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet and medium to heavily bitter. Tastes of hops, citrus, tangerine, orange, pine, resin, and a hint of malt. Medium body. Oily, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Medium sweet, heavily bitter, hop, citrus, tangerine, orange pine, resin finish is dry. 9%ABV is completely hidden throughout.
