4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Thorpe429 (4945) - , Illinois, USA - DEC 1, 2010
Thanks to Alex for sending this out as an extra.
Pours a light apricot color with nice lacing as it goes down. Pretty hefty hop profile dominated by citrus and flora notes. Tastes very nice with a good hop blend, although not nearly as strong as the nose suggested or is common amongst the style. Somewhat dry in the finish with good carbonation. Fairly sessionable for a DIPA and hard to believe that it is 9%.

Super-kick-a$$-slap-yo-mama-with-a-dinner-plate deliciously good! I have been WAITING AND WAITING AND WAITING for this brew. I am thrilled with it!. Pours a darker orange hue and leaves a frothy ring around the top. The smell gives way to orange citrus hop and a healthy, but not over the top, dose of malt. The taste is just spot on! Big orange/grapefruit/ lemon hop. Then finishes with a beautiful bitter pine. A dbl IPA that, in beefing up the ingredients and ABV, does not lose the essence of its style. So proud that this is brewed in Wisconsin. Everybody else take note. Definitely one of those "alone on a deseert island beers."

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours cloudy amber orange with an off white bubbley head. Aroma of piney hops, tropical fruits, mango, kiwi. Flavour is quite resinous, lots of tropical fruits, caramel malts. Full bodied, well balanced, refreshing. Bootiful.

Bottle thanks to madbeerbaron. Pours clear orange with a small beige head and good lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, passionfruit, a touch of cat piss. Flavor is the same, light sweet, medium bitter, with a touch of dankness that I enjoy in my IPAs. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Definitely a hop bomb, but a well crafted one IMO.

Very hoppy aroma, smells sweet and piney. A well balanced double IPA that is obviously bitter, but surprisingly sweet. I could imagine this beer being paired with something like baked goat cheese with honey. One of my favorite double IPA’s.

Super hazy deep honey coloured body with a bright copper glow and a gold tint, all with a two centimetre thick dense off-white head. Aroma of pungent pine and very resinous hops with a hint of citrus and a lot of malt and alcohol perceptible. Full-bodied; Strong dense malt flavour with a good sweet and resinous flavour with a ton of piney, herbal, grassy and almost sprucey hop flavour - the hops really shine here. Aftertaste is very well balanced with a bunch of sweetness, a lot of malt punch, a good note of alcohol and the hop bitterness which dominates even 5 minutes after a sip. Overall, a great Imperial IPA - definitely one worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Discount Liqour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Washington on 02-December-2012.

This is quite good. Central Waters has some solid beers, but this is a notch above. Full fresh hop aroma from a white fluffy head. Lots of hop flavor--nice grapefruit touch--and plenty of malt to back it up. Very well done.
