12oz bottle. Murky amber with a small head. Aroma is caramel, Pac NW hops, dark fruit and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet caramel malt with a firm bitterness and some alcohol head. Medium body with a sweet finish. Kind of like a sweeter Bigfoot.

Dark amber color, half finger of light brown head. Good lacing and retention. Big ABV legs. Nose is of raisins, dark fruits, brandy, pine, and grapefruit. Big and bold nose. Thick, chewy and sweet beer. Notes of brandy, pine, raisins, figs and dates. Very heavy feel but well hidden ABV. Some jam notes but not enough to offset the other notes. Solid as heck Barleywine. MOAR please

12 ounce bottle from Madison, WI, $3.99. Big, malty, woodsy, floral, butterscotch aroma. Appearance was opaque and orange with long-lasting foam on top. Taste was rich and buttery with scotch and cake. Palate was appropriately and comfortably mid-bodied. Overall a good barleywine that affirms my impression of Central Water’s high quality stuff.

The most consistent element of Central Waters’ Brewers Reserve series is there is a certain hugeness involved. The Kosmyk One is no exception. Huge head, aroma and taste. The body is heavy enough to be chewy. Quite boozy. Quite lovely.

Pours dark red with a creamy white head. Aroma is dark candied fruit and malt with a touch of sweetness. Taste is brown sugar, dark fruit, and sweet malt that come together nicely with a bitter hop note. Very good barleywine.

Even though this beer has been cellared at the brewery you can tell this beer is young and will improve 10 fold in about 2 or 3 years. Appearance is very dark amber with minimal head. Aroma has the caramel and malt up front followed by some dark fruits and a nuttiness. Alcohol is pressing. On the palate you are hit right away with burnt caramel and malts followed by some dark fruits and finish with a noticeable alcohol burn. Mouth feel is very smooth with just enough carbonation and finishing on the dry side. This beer has a lot of complexity and will smooth out so much in years to come. High potential!

Bottle. Pour is deep, hazy copper-red with a medium tan head. looks like a barleywine should look. Aroma ans flacor loaded with toffee maly which is nicely balanced by light peppery hop notes and a fain alcohol twinge. Also hints of the basement and cobwebs. I think this is a really nice, classic barleywine. Hides 10% extremely well.

1 year of age on this bottle, and still not what I’m really looking for in a barley wine. I still much prefer the barrel aged version
