pantanap (784), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2008 12oz bottle poured and tasted next to its BA brother.... both were pretty similar in appearance. a heavily clouded dark toffee brown with a lively and moderate light brown head....chewy sweet caramel malt and some dark fruits mingling in the background. also somewhat biscuity.... nice typical barleywine flavor. caramel malt and sweet fruit all around. solid, full mouthfeel with a good amount of carbonation.

Bottle: The aroma consists of buttery caramel, toffee, and light alcohol. It pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. The flavor starts with caramel, toffee, and light fruit up front. There is a hint of banana bread in the background. The finish has a light-moderate citrus hoppiness. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation. mcjay (78), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2008 Updated: Sep 21, 2008Aged for a year. Hazy red color with a white head. Smells sweet and fruity. Flavor of roasted malts with a strong bitter and dry after taste. MrBendo (997), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Sep 17, 2008 Updated: Sep 18, 20082007 bottle, with thanks to pepsican. Hazy copper color with a medium head. Aroma of caramel, cherries and semi-sweet toffee. A little floral hops. Not really complex, but a very nice taste. Medium dry. I am tempted to add this back to my wants list. Theis (2212), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2008 Bottle at Sune’s (Thanks). Clear reddish - offwhite head. Caramel, raisins, berries, licorice, fruity, high hoppy, red berries, very aromatic, light sharpness. Very very nice. jake65 (1274), Meridian, Idaho, USA Sep 1, 2008 Bottle: Deep amber pour with a thick & creamy beige head. Creamy sheets of lacing. Fruity and caramel in the nose, also a bit sweet and bready. Tastes malty with some vinous fruit. Sugary and sweet, some light citrus bitters. Then it seems as if the tail is more of a floral bitter. Standard transition as it warmed, very drinkable. Thanks pepsican.
