This Traditional IPA is a hopheadís dream. The distinct sharpness of British hops and moderate alchohol are balanced by a dry, malty profile and crisp flavor. The result is a brew as smooth as a sunset paddle on the glassy waters of Lac Du Bay. Seasonal March - October.

Deep clear copper with an off-white head. Barely detectable aroma - some earthiness and light caramel. Strong caramel/toffee backbone, woody and earthy with plenty of resinous bitterness. Full, round and chewy body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle thanks to ogglethorp. Dark pour with off-brown head. Rather roasted smell, with citrus and hoppy notes. Flavor was grass, pine and grapefruit. Medium body with a good backbone of roasted malt. Finish was dry.

Hazy dark amber body with a small off-white head. The nose is very sweet with caramel, toffee, raisins, pine and citrus. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter with a sickening amount of crystal malt, tons of ice tea, caramel, toffee, some roast, some pine and grapefruit. Medium body is round with light carbonation.

12oz bottle. Smells of toffee, honey, cookie dough and a small bit of super sweet oranges. Slick and thick texture, rich and resinous, with a smooth body throughout the drink, only a small roughness showing up in the finish. Itís basically consumed by this cookie dough and honey malt syrup flavor, which even though it doesnít belong in any IPA itís not that bad. The bitterness isnít aggressive at all, much more like that of stewed tea leaves (thank illinismitty for that, heís right).

Bottle from my friend Brian. Pours a very dark murky amber with a thick off white head with yellow hues. Aroma of floral and citrus hops with some toffee malts. Medium bodied with a dry texture and lots of maltiness. Initial flavor of toffee and caramel (british like) that transitions to a moderate bitterness, that brings out some subtle sweet citrus. Finish is slightly earthy with a tea like bitterness. Not a bad IPA if you like a little extra malt.

Pours a deep amber with a minimal white head that left some lacing. Aroma of dough with a touch of grass. Taste is peppery then more malty. Hops do not really shine through as in other IPAs. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. A decent English interpretation of the style but nothing to set it apart from the pack.

Reddish copper bodied with a decent ecru head, this has an aroma of toffee and cookie dough with a moderate floral and earthy hopping to it. Medium bodied, it tastes of dough, toffee, a touch of butterscotch, and a floral grassy bitterness that lingers in the mouth. Not a bad English styled IPA.

Or rather, I attempted toÖ.It didnít start out well, even when I opened the bottle. A spout of foam crept out of the bottle, and I poured it in the glass to reveal a rather murky, heavily sedimented maroon-copper body, with lots of beige head.
Diacetyl was certainly prominent, but that was probably the better part of the aroma....A rancid, sour, vegetal character was the worst, and dominant part. Mixing these notes with the hops just made it more strange, muddled and unpleasant. One of the few beers that I actually considered not taking a sip of (it smelled that bad). Rotten, sour and diacetyl ridden.
I did decide to put a little in my mouth, which I did not end up swallowing, as it tasted similar to the aroma. I could find some hop bitterness, but there were strange phenols, lots of butter and weird sour notes. My track record with this brewery is not good, and getting worse with every subsequent beer....I need to find some fresh bottles and rerate those, because apparently the ones Iíve been getting havent been fresh.
