COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 90+ schilling is far and away a wee heavy. Hop presence is kept low to allow the full richness of seven different malts to shine through.

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2008 Pours dark for a scotch ale, with a heavy roasted and malty flavor. Several malts were used and it really shows thanks to the lack of hops. A little sweet but still a good true scotch ale. C Dub does it again.

Seemed to do a good job getting the beer right for the style. Had at the Central Waters Brewpub in Marshfield, WI. Malty aroma came with a medium head. Another good beer from CW

[Bottle] Pours a clear mahogany with a good sized off white head. Aroma is malty and sweet with little hops. Flavor is slightly chalky and caramel. Medium mouthfeel.

No hops on this beer, appropriate for the style. Grain in the aroma and flavor. Some earth, grass, and dirt. Light brown color. Good, thich head. Bitter grain finish. A very dry beer. The earthy character is unusual and not bad, though not better than average. Thanks to Skyview for sharing.

(growler from Skyview) Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is musty, with some caramel, light banana and cherry. It’s decent with some of the sweet smells there, but that prevading mustiness really detracts from the good things going on in there. Taste is sweet caramel with a lot of grain, mustiness, and somewhat of a metallic finish.

A growler courtesy of Skyview. Dark copper color with a medium head. Caramel aroma. Heavy grain flavor with a little sugar and caramel malt finish.

On draught at the brewery Taproom in Amherst, Wisconsin. Sampled during the Central Waters’ 10th Anniversary Party. Pours a semi-dazed dark reddish amber brew with a creamy light beige head that has some good retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of sour caramel malt, some light peat, and a touch of cardboard. Taste has a bitter sour milk texture with light caramel and toffee flavors. Finish is metallic, more sour milk/caramel malt with a light peat aftertaste. Alcohol may be a little high or a slight infection. Willing to try this one again.

Pours dark brown with reddish highlights. Light tan head. Caramel malt and brown sugar aroma with a flavor to match. Little on the sweet side.

Dark Caramel Brown...Medium Sandy Head. Sweet Caramel..Some Toasted Notes...Bittersweet, Dry Qualities...an Interesting Combination of Malts Give it a Unique set of Flavors, Which Keeps the Balance off Kilter on this Brew.

Draught 10 oz glass at the brewpub, early October 2006. Clear dark mahogany-maple in color with a small, tan, creamy lasting head, no residue left as the beer recedes....nose is mostly, alas, heavy-duty buttery diacetyl, faint hints of peaty smoke struggle to fight their way through and a bit of oak finds its was through the morass, but on the whole it ain’t pretty....on the tongue it’s extremely sweet with huge brown sugar and a bit of tarry burnt malts, some vanilla, too much alcohol presence as it warms, cloying, thick, unbalanced and syrupy....blah, an utter failure and a disappointment from a brewery that can do better.
