A robust, yet suprisingly refreshing porter, Mud Puppy is a favorite of dark beer lovers. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like nose, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style.

Draught @ Albion. Dark brown with little reddish tint, faint vanilla aroma, low carbonation, roasted malt taste with little alcohol undertone, thin body, medium bitter burnt finish. Nice and smooth albeit slightly watery.

Clear brown pour with a beige frothy head. US shelfie porters are funny.. I swear the ones ive had could just as well have been a brown ale. Taste: some semi-bitter roasted malt, nutty brown flavor, chocolate chip cookie and a hint of licorice and bitter coffee. Pretty light body. Semi dry aftertadte and a fairly short one too.

A hitten surprise brought to you (me) by hoprider. Pour a clear dark brown, with a small slightly off white head. Aroma of nuts, slight chocolate. Slight coffee and roasted malts. Taste is very slightly up front, with a medium roasted bitterness. Medium/slighty watery body, with a lively carb.

Had this beer with brunch (because Im fancy like that...) and that is its true calling. The only thing I could have asked for was for this to be a coffee Porter. Then I would have been like woah!

Bottle. Vegetal caramel chocolate malt aroma. Chestnut brown with moderate light tan head. Lightly sweet earthy chocolate-caramel malt and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Decent body. Drier than the typical porter. Nice.

Taste is milk chocolate, light roast, light body, some sweetness with caramel, roasty finish, herbal citrus pine like bitter.Somewhat astringent finish dry clean with pine linger and roast/chocolate linger.

Pours dense, dark, brown to black with a plush foam head that remains, effervescent. Nose has notes of chocolate, hops, pepper, with a smokiness that provides a rich full aromatic experience. Goes across the palate silky and finishes crisp with a pleasant lingering aftertaste. Tastes smooth, milky, with the spicy hops rounding out the drink. The flavors blend so well it makes it hard to distinguish individual notes. This is a smooth, crisp, well made porter. This beer tastes like another!

Bottle at home. Initial pour was a pint glass of foam. Took about 4 minutes before it settled into some liquid. Amber brown color - looked more like a dunklerbock. The aroma was somewhat muted by the foamy head but there was some standard roasty malts and coffee. The flavors come together quite nicely - roasty, smoky, sweet, chocolate, coffee. Great balance on the finish.
