A robust, yet suprisingly refreshing porter, Mud Puppy is a favorite of dark beer lovers. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like nose, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style.

bit of cocoa and milky mouthfeel with some barnyard hay. aroma is ok and better than the taste. some sweetness and altogether pleasant. hop character does not seem all that liberal.

Nice brown head. Coffee, super-roasted almost burned and with the hops tastes rather metallic. Body’s a little light. Still satisfying but I don’t think I’d have another one.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a very dark brown with coffee colored head. Nice chocolate aroma with some toasty notes. Taste is chocolate, coffee, a little caramel and roasted malt. Really could pass as a solid stout. Medium to full bodied. Very good Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown with a foamy, tan head. Very mild aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste starts sweet with a nice burnt sugar flavor. Toast, cereal and roasted malts are present. There’s just a tiny hint of smoke which works for me. Medium mouth feel. Not dry like some stouts but there’s a little hop bite to finish things off. I’d like to try the nitro on tap sometime.

Very well done porter. Refreshing with note of coffee and chocolate. Not too alcoholic which was nice.

12 oz bottle poured into shaker pint. Dark opaque brown body with a tan half-finger of head that settled to a ring. A good amount of lacing is deposited. Aroma is malty - toasted bread, coffee, chocolate - with a touch of hops in the background adding a spicy herbal note. Taste is toasted malt sweetness early then hop spice in the end. Medium body, slick texture, low-average carbonation, long semi-dry roasted finish.
