Pours a very dark brown color with a decent off brown head on it that leaves a little lacing. Scent has some robust and sweet caramel malts. A bit of a coffee/cocoa scent as well. The robust malts hit the taste buds hard with a good cocoa flavor that is smooth and delicious. Very well made and quite tasty with so much flavor, this is definitely a sipping beer!

12 oz bottle into a DFH signature glass. Bottled on March 2012. Nearly a year old and it had some goop on the bottom of the bottle, mmm goop. Thank Wes for the extra!
A - Pours a pitch black body, a rather dark porter that shows just a hint of brown on the edges when held up to the light. One finger of off white foam with some real nice lacing and retention.
S - Bitter coffee beans and smooth milk chocolate. A touch of roasted malt and vanilla. Smells a lot like a malted milk ball. Real nice!
T - Milk chocolate, coffee and cream, and lasting roasted mats. Not as great as the nose.
M - Thin to medium bodied with ample carbonation. Pretty spot on for a porter.
O - The char gets to be a bit too dominating on the aftertaste, but this is otherwise a nice porter. Its held up very well considering its almost a year old.

12 oz bottle pours a dark brown with medium beige head and some lacing. Aroma is pretty much as expected from a porter: roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee, but also with cigar leaves and walnuts. Taste is slightly sweet with a nutty, dry finish. Body is medium at best (less than I had hoped for in a porter) with light carbonation. Very good, and quite unusual for the style. If I smoked cigars the way I drink coffee I’d like this one even more.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2012 Delicious porter. I had this on tap, so I can’t comment on packaging, but the pour was dark with a thin tan colored head. Major malts, and a big chocolate nose on this one. Has a bogus name, but a great beer.

On nitrogen at Jerry’s. Black with big, frothy, nitro tan head / Delicate, sour, toasty nose of grass and coffee / Light to medium body, soft with the expected low carbonation, somewhat acidic with gentle malts, and lightly bitter finish / Mellow flavors of dark roast coffee and grass, with caramel notes / Pleasant, but simple.

Great look, great smell, great taste. Dark like a porter should be. Taste is robust, chocolatey, with a subtle cigar flavor. Beer is thick, yet light. You just want more.

Very nice Porter. Has all the regular characteristics inherent in a porter. Chocolate and coffee dominate. It pours a very deep, dark brown that is indeed muddy. There is a medium beige head that dissipates with some moderate lacing. Aroma is not only mocha and coffee, but also an almost maduro cigar wrapper quality. It’s nice. Taste is the same and adds some caramel on the tongue. Malty with no bite or bitterness to speak off. It’s medium to thick bodied and sticky on the tongue. I liked it a bunch. What set it apart for me was that maduro cigar scent that is part of the nose. Nice.
