A robust, yet suprisingly refreshing porter, Mud Puppy is a favorite of dark beer lovers. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like nose, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style.

[Bottle] Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is brown sugar, chocolate, and roasted malt. Some dark fruit/raisin shows up after awhile.Taste is subdued chocolate up front, and then deeply roasted malt towards the finish. Simple, but nice, although it does get a little ashy at the end.. Fairly thin, finish length is slightly above average. Overall, a very basic porter, but certainly not bad.

Clear brown pour, nice beige head. Aroma bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor matches, mildly bitter finish. A bit thin but tasty.

Bottle. Deep brown with white head. Muted nose of dark bread, toasted malt, some hops and faint cacao nibs. Taste is much the same with just a small amount of malt. Thin for a porter.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark brown; nice brown head and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and barley. Taste is roasty, malty, some chocolate notes and even some hops (well balanced). Very good porter, very drinkable and quite enjoyable.

Thanks to Dave. A lot of molasses flavor in this porter. A little smoke and cola. Lightly hopped. Nothing too exciting.

12oz bottle to tulip. Pours black with brown frothy head. Aroma of choc, caramel, vanilla and earth. Taste is big choc, vanilla, caramel, toffee and some creamy coffee (cappuccino). Mouthfeel is light-medium for style. Finish is nice bitter choc. Very good (choc) porter...at least it feels good tonight.

Draft. Dark brown color with tan head and some lacing. Coffee aroma with caramel note. Sweet coffee upfront followed by mouthcoating coffee, chocolate notes and crisp, bitter bite. Lighter body than expected for a porter. Long finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught @ Albion. Dark brown with little reddish tint, faint vanilla aroma, low carbonation, roasted malt taste with little alcohol undertone, thin body, medium bitter burnt finish. Nice and smooth albeit slightly watery.

Clear brown pour with a beige frothy head. US shelfie porters are funny.. I swear the ones i’ve had could just as well have been a brown ale. Taste: some semi-bitter roasted malt, nutty brown flavor, chocolate chip cookie and a hint of licorice and bitter coffee. Pretty light body. Semi dry aftertadte and a fairly short one too.
