COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust, yet suprisingly refreshing porter, Mud Puppy is a favorite of dark beer lovers. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like nose, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style.

Pours a very dark brown color. Smell is of chocolate, some coffee. Taste is coffee up front, chocolate kicking in at the finish. A quality beer, I probably would enjoy it more in the winter.

Pours dark, almost black. Huge tan head. Nose is bready and malty with notes of milk chocolate. Taste is on the sweet side. Cocoa finish. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A black pour with some reddish highlights and a tan head. The aroma has roasted dark chocolate and mild coffee. It has a medium body with creamy texture and average carbonation. The taste is roasted with a dry finish.

This beer pours a slightly hazy reddish brown with a large tan head that fades quickly. The aroma is heavily reminiscent of roasted malts, so much so that some smoke lingers in the nose; however, the aroma is a bit one-dimensional in this aspect. The taste is slightly bitter and mildly umami, bit the aftertaste is dominated by the toasty and smoky flavors that the aroma hints towards. The palate of this beer doesn’t overwhelm the flavor, bit the slick and thin texture, medium-light body, and soft carbonation don’t really support the flavor either.

bit of cocoa and milky mouthfeel with some barnyard hay. aroma is ok and better than the taste. some sweetness and altogether pleasant. hop character does not seem all that liberal.

Nice brown head. Coffee, super-roasted almost burned and with the hops tastes rather metallic. Body’s a little light. Still satisfying but I don’t think I’d have another one.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a very dark brown with coffee colored head. Nice chocolate aroma with some toasty notes. Taste is chocolate, coffee, a little caramel and roasted malt. Really could pass as a solid stout. Medium to full bodied. Very good Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Look: pours a dark brown. Can see through on the edges. Clear bear. Tan head. Smell: slight chocolate. Roasted malts. Taste: roasted malts. Light smokey flavor. Chocolate. Feel: thin mouth feel. Medium carbonation. Minimal dryness on the back end. Overall: good beer. Lots of roasted malts. First drank: home 1/9/15 Vintage: 2014

Pours dark brown with a foamy, tan head. Very mild aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste starts sweet with a nice burnt sugar flavor. Toast, cereal and roasted malts are present. There’s just a tiny hint of smoke which works for me. Medium mouth feel. Not dry like some stouts but there’s a little hop bite to finish things off. I’d like to try the nitro on tap sometime.

Very well done porter. Refreshing with note of coffee and chocolate. Not too alcoholic which was nice.
