This smooth amber ale with it's mellow nutty flavor, subtle flowery nose, and delightful malty finish should appeal even to the newest of specialty beer drinkers.Named for the Algonquin word for the Wisconsin River, Ouisconsing Red makes even our neighbors to the south and west "want to be a Badger".

On draught at Local Option. Reddish-amber pour with a medium off-white head that diminishes slowly to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of caramel malt and hops. Light body with flavors of mild floral hops, butterscotch and malt. The finish is short and sweet with a caramel malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

12 oz bottle. I got a free glass with it. It pours into my new Central Waters pint glass a very nice color. It is a clear reddish amber that has a nice foamy slightly off-white head that recedes to some very nice lacing. The smell is of caramel, toasted grain, and a hint of hops. Subtle, but nice. The flavor is better than expected. I usually dislike red ales because they are mind-numbingly boring. This one is still pretty pedestrian but it is pretty tasty for a red ale. It is bready and toasty with a hint of metallic flavor, caramel sweetness, and a surprising bit of hops. The hops don’t really bring much flavor just a very blunt, medium bitterness. Central Waters makes something out of nothing. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-15-2011 05:22:49

12oz bottle, shared by alexsdad06. Mostly clear orange / red color. Little white head, some bits and ropes of lace. Caramel malt in the nose, light spicy malt. Little hint of mustiness. Smooth, soft light-medium carbonation. More dry finish. Moderate bitter taster, moderate sweet in the finish.

12 fl oz bottle. (Friar Tuck) Springfield, IL.
Clear amber colour with a big creamy off-white head. Floral hops, mild bitterness, sweet malt and nutty dryness in the aroma. The flavour is moderate bitterness, dry hops, dry nuttiness and darkish maltiness. Balanced but rather boring Amber Ale.

Bottle. Pours a hazy red-amber with a nice thin foamy white head. Smells of malt and some crisp hop. mouthfeel is too carbonated, which masks the little bit of maltiness and nuttiness that might be in there. Just ok.

Pours clear copper with thin white head. The aroma is mildly malty sweet with a touch of earthiness and spicy hops. The taste starts with a mild roasted malt astringent note and hop bite then very quickly becomes more rich with malt sweetness and some pretty solid nuttiness. It ends some lingering earthy to spicy hop notes and some refreshing dryness.

Bottle. Poured a clear medium orange with a light layer of beige head... had some nice lacing as this went down. Nose picked up smooth caramel, earth, toasty grains, bread, and pine... became rather sticky and a little remniscent of pine resin as it wamed up. Lighter-bodied. Smooth through the mouth with bitterness around the tongue and a rather sticky finish. Flavors of toasted earth, caramel, and some floral hoppage. Nothing extraordinary about this one, but it was smooth, tasty, and very easy-drinking.
