This smooth amber ale with it's mellow nutty flavor, subtle flowery nose, and delightful malty finish should appeal even to the newest of specialty beer drinkers.Named for the Algonquin word for the Wisconsin River, Ouisconsing Red makes even our neighbors to the south and west "want to be a Badger".

Cheers to Mike for sharing this one. Pours copper with beige head. Aroma and flavor, wheat, caramel malts, thick grainy palate, bready and malty resembling cookie dough with some light notes of hops.

Draft at Greenbush Bar. Pours a dark amber-brown color with reddish tints and a fairly thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, floral hops, biscuit, and a faint bit of citrus. Flavor follows suit mostly, with notes of caramel malts early and then floral hops, nuts, citrus, toast, and sugar. Sweet and malty. Light-bodied, with average carbonation and a sweet finish. Simple and sessionable.

Bottled: Slightly hazed coppery red hue with small and fading fizzy head and little lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, buttered toast, faint hazelnut, aromatic and wisp of pine hops. The taste starts mildly bitter with a equal dose of background malts. Balanced but none too exciting. Some minor fruit and nut tones hidden mostly. The finish is basic easy bitterness and a dry earthiness. The feel is lively and fizzy. Just your average old American Amber. Pass.

12 oz bottle from my trip to Wisconsin for GTMW. Pours a hazy orange amber, a but darker brown, a moderate offwhite head that stays at a decent layer, laces ok. Aromas are malty, caramel, toffee, and biscuits take the front. Light floral hopping, largely malt forward. Initial is malty, biscuits and caramel, bread, light bitterness, faint citrus that balances fairly well. Quite drinkable, but a bit sweet on the backend. Finish light bitterness, fairly malty, bread caramel and toffee steal the day with a touch of nuttiness and light hopping. Ok.

12 oz. bottle from a six pack that a friend of my wife brought back when they were supposed to be looking for Wisconsin Belgian Red. Oh well, itís a tick. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small disappearing off white head. The aroma and flavor have lighter caramel malt, floral and grassy hops, lightly fruity, slight metallic note.

Bottle to taster (shared by alexsdad06). Looks solid; a semi-transparent orangish brown with white lacing. Smells sweet and malty with light floral notes. Tastes like it smells, sans the floral notes. Average on the palate. Okay.

Iím really getting to like this brewery, but this is a rather nondescript Amber. Looks nice, a clear copper/amber body with a fluffy off-white head. The faint aroma has some toffee, apples, and butterscotch. (Bad bottle?) Add a light floral/earthy hoppiness to the flavor and you have the whole picture. Iíd only repeat this one to see if my bottle was off.

Skyview (5269) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - APR 3, 2007
Pick up a bottle from Trigs in Wausau, Wisconsin. Poured a clear light reddish amber with an ivory cream head. It had some nice lacing as this went down. Nose sensed caramel, toast grains, brown sugar, and nut. Grainy through the mouth with bitterness around the tongue. Flavors of caramel, and some toffee hops. An average red ale

Cloudy brownish red, with a thin layer of foam. Faint aroma, but there is little bit of caramel and some piney hops. Nicely full bodied, with a nice mix of caramel and pine. I think Iíve typed the word caramel 3000 times since Iíve been on ratebeer...

Pours a dark amber color. Very pretty. The aroma is apricots with a little bit of peanuts. The taste is toast and some caramel. There is a hint of cooked apples. The finish is dry with oak. There is sharp carbonation in the mouth.
