COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This smooth amber ale with it's mellow nutty flavor, subtle flowery nose, and delightful malty finish should appeal even to the newest of specialty beer drinkers.Named for the Algonquin word for the Wisconsin River, Ouisconsing Red makes even our neighbors to the south and west "want to be a Badger".

muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, USA - DEC 24, 2006
12 oz bottle from the Woodmans on Gammon Road, Madison WI (October 2006) consumed mid-November from a Chouffe tulip glass. Thick, stable creamy-frothy off-white head tops the ruddy red-bronze body which bubbles away nicely for a while....touch buttery in the nose though some nice rough woody-twiggy hops manage to struggle through; with warmth the nose seems to fade to almost nothingness though a hint of diacetyl remains.....cherry-apple fruitiness in the body ebbs to a serious dryness and burnt-bitter roastiness....on the whole this is very dry and boring with almost no real flavor, with rough carbonation and bland soda-wateriness making this another major disappointment from this once well-regarded (by me anyway) brewery.

tmoreau (1347) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 9, 2012
On tap at the Argus in Madison, WI., and dispensed to a shaker showing a hazed, brownish amber, off white, creamy head foam, and a nicely clingy, sprayed appearance to the lacing. The aroma was mainly mid-fruit as apricot or peach, some light sweetness, and smooth malt. The flavor added medium, earthy, but not overbearing hop bitterness and a light wisp of soapiness. Decently carbonated and basically sessionable.

Frank (2058) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2012
This pours a mostly headless orange amber. It is a nice dry but still malty ale which is quite mild but w/o being entirely bland. It finishes w/ a woody bitterness. Maybe not a stand out but better than average.

Scipio (185) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - APR 16, 2012
Pours a clear, dark red with a short lasting white head. Aroma is bready and malty, but most apparent is a nutty scent. Taste is slightly hoppy. Nuts overpower other flavors, although bread, caramel, and malts are present. Buttery aftertaste. Altogether, the taste is somewhat weaker, as well as off. More of a watery palate.

12oz bottle. Rating #131. Clear dark amber color with a little brown mixed in and an off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma with a bit of caramel sweetness, real nice. Nice flavor as well, mild bitterness with a little more caramel. Nice stuff. (2272)

Bottle pours red-amber with a white head. Aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, nuts, and light florals. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of dried berry, apple, and grassy hops. Overall body is moderate and finishes with light to moderate bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a foamy tan head. Aromas of floral hops and malt. Slightly sweet nutty malt flavor balanced well with hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied. Nothing too special; but alot better than some other ambers out there.

Amber with slight red tint. Light floral hops, caramel malt sweetness, and a tinge of plastic. Light caramel maltiness with soft, watery hop bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel.

jsquire (2484) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - NOV 9, 2011
Amber beer out of the bottle with a small, short lived off white head. Light grainy and nutty nose. Very easy drinking beer with malty sweetness, some raw grain and toast notes and a grassy bitterness in the finish. I find this style dull, but this is a good enough example.

Bottle poured into a pint glass. There’s a nutty sour taste that didn’t sit quite right with me. The buttery tone blurred out other aspects. It’s light and won’t make you cringe, but there weren’t many aspects that made me want to try it again.
