3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dmac (2658) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - MAY 24, 2012
12 oz bottle via Capone’s bottle shop. Poured a nice looking deep black body with an average sized creamy beige head. Aroma of coffee, cream, vanilla, bourbon, barrel, hint of coconut, grains, toast, choocolate. Body is fuller than expected with an almost full mouthfeel and strong carbonation and a longer lasting aftertaste. Flavor of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, pudding, toast, grainst, toffee, molassess, candle wax. Solid beer and no indication of the possible infection that this one was recalled for.

Bottle, generously shared by Savvy1982. Clear dark brown, not nearly opaque, with a medium tan head. It does not look imperial, but this does not prejudice me. Big coffee blast in the aroma, with vegetal undertones and subtle barrel traits. Flavours of raw espresso, again with earthy vegetal undertones, mild oaky vanilla, and the faintest spicy character. Mouthfeel is on the thin side, and there is a distinct acidity in the finish that seems to amplify the perception of thinness. Having said that, it is a remarkably drinkable impy, and the flavours are nice. In a blind tasting I would have pegged this as a coffee porter, albeit a very good one.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mixmasterob (678) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Dark brown almost black pour with no head. Left some small spots of lace. Aroma was rich in bourbon, vanilla, dark roasted malt, just a small hint of coffee. Flavors were also bourbon driven with some roasty notes, vanilla sweetness and a light espresso like bitterness. Just a tinge of green apple in the finish. Mouthfeel was a bit thin but overall quite flavorful. Could use some tweaks but quite good. Love the bourbon presence. Huge thanks to Lemonhead for the bottle.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 crosamich (201) - Naples, Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2012
No bourbon here but coffee comes through. Slight sour note developing as mentioned by Central waters recently. Blends fairly well with the last forty coffee notes.

Bottle at home, from my MTH glass. Pours clear dark brown, with a thin tan head, and spotty lacing. Nose is big coffee, bourbon, vanilla, with nice roast, very well-rounded nose Flavours of coffee, bourbon, toast, a bit of tart tannin towards the back. Soft oaky finish. Marvelous Imperial Stout, but not one of the elite, at least not to me...
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 burg326 (1076) - Florida, USA - MAY 9, 2012
12 ounce bottle poured a dark roasted black color, with a aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and some vanilla. Flavors are cold pressed coffee, some vanilla, light chocolate, and a touch of roasted malt. This was a real nice imperial stout, could easily be a tailgating beer doesn’t taste like an 8% beer and could get dangerous.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 HonusWagner (796) - Florida, USA - MAY 8, 2012
One of the better coffee+BA stouts I’ve had, very strong notes of espresso. I love CW, wish they had a wider distribution.

Bottle generously shared by popery. Thanks David. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head that settles to a ring. The aroma is big roasted coffee with a decent amount of bourbon, some vanilla, and a hint of coconut. The the taste is slightly sweet with lots of roasted coffee, a bit of nuttiness, and some bourbon. The finish has more coffee with a bit of nuttiness. Very thin mouthfeel for a stout. Low carbonation. This wasn’t bad, but it reminded me more of something like cuban espresso brown ale or coffee bender with some bourbon more than an imperial stout.

12 ounce bottle. Spicy coffee, fruity cacao, tart, and chocolate. A very interesting imperial stout, bringing a cacao note into a coffee imperial stout was brilliant.

Shared this particular brew at about 4:30 am on Dark Lord Day. What a way to start the day. Well, the lighting was so dim, it’s hard to really say the color of it, but it was certainly dark, with a light (or tan) head. Aroma was heavy on the coffee notes, with notes of roasted malts. Flavor was coffee, chocolate, vanilla, roasted. Very enjoyable.
