2012, sweetish bourbon characteristics, some tart notes which is odd, a bit thin, ok

From Archer Liquors, Chicago, pours a thick dark black color. Nose is malt, with strong coffee and licorice with a hint of whiskey. Taste is quite complex with a biting whiskey taste with a fruity background. Finish is bitter and the whiskey and fruity alcohol flavors linger. A very different Imperial. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Pours black with a brown head an nice, strong aroma of coffee and bourbon notes. Taste is heavy on bourbon notes, with vanilla, light fruit and coffee leading to a warming, alcohol finish. Strong, complex stout.

Bottle pour while watching some Game of Thrones. Beautifully constructed coffee stout that keeps on bringing the hits.

Bottle, opened up on accident in the AM, but drank anyway because I don’t give a fuck. Pours dark brown with a small 1 finger sized head that leaves behind decent lacing and small legs. Rich bourbon aromas with a lick of butterscotch, molasses like sweetness. Reminds of some kind of French vanilla coffee creamer. Taste is very rich and sweet, with more of that vanilla sweetness, coffee beans, light tobacco, light roast, buttery, some coconut and light dark fruits. Medium body, maybe a touch too dry on the finish, medium-high alcohol warmth. After taste is dominated by the creamy vanilla flavor, toffee, caramel, and butter as well. A very nice beer, but the finish comes off as a bit too sweet, and lacks some bolder, bitter flavors to give it more depth.

Pours nearly black with a firm light-brown head. Aroma has heaps of sweet coffee liqueur and bourbon notes, including butter, oak and coconut. Flavor is pretty sweet -- deep brownie and iced coffee notes along with rich vanilla and coconut bourbon accents and a warming finish. Maybe a little sharp and tart for the relatively modest ABV, but overall very nice.

Tap. Black pour with tan head. Smells of bourbon, wood, butter and slight coffee. Tastes of bourbon and a slight coffee aftertaste. Very good.

12 oz. bottle. It pours a nice dark brown color with a beige colored head that disappears quickly. The aroma is so good… balanced maltiness with some chocolate, mocha coffee, vanilla and caramel. The bourbon is in perfect balance. The flavor is a tad on the astringent side with strong black coffee notes, dark chocolate and mild hints of bourbon near the finish. The astringency borders on tartness, but overall this was a really fun beer. I liked how the bourbon barrel played a intregal, yet supporting role here with a good body and mouthfeel. I just wish the astringency was replaced with a more rich malt character.

Bottle at Delilah’s in Chicago. Big oily black pour. Big coffee and bourbon notes very roasty. Fuller mouthfeel. Abv is very apparent. Big beer in many ways; flavor, abv, aroma, mouthfeel. Sipper no doubt. Nice

This is a lot like Brewers Reserve. It is hard for me to pick out the coffee in this one. CW still does a great job of trying to not use too much of a good thing in their beers. I like this one at lot at any rate
