4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Coffee and bourbon on the nose, this pours out black like oil. Coffee, roasted malt, cocoa, and bit of vanilla on the palate. Really complex.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to glass. Pitch black coffee pour with a nice creamy khaki head. Nose is coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate. Taste is a great base of bitter sweet roasted malt, chocolate, and huge coffee with a Bourbon ghost finish. Notes of vanilla float around too. I donít think this one was affected by the infection, or itís still too early on.

2014 release Pours black with very little khakis head.
Aroma is bourbon and raisins.
Taste is sweet with a slight alcohol presence. Mainly of chocolate and bourbon.
Palate is smooth with some dryness similar to a bitter beer.
Overall a good beer. Doesnít match up to some of the other barrel aged series from Central Waters. Iíd recommend one of the other options over this one from these guys.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2015 Dark pour. Kind of looks like Coke. Bourbony coffee smell. You can tell just by the aroma this is a Central Waters beer. Must be the barrels. Tastes great. Great chocolaty toasty flavors. Very sweet. Nice touch of bourbon. A little tangy on the tip of tongue. The tangyness isnít to pronounced. Have had 4 bottles so far and all have been fine. Will probably drink the remaining 4 soon because I hear the tangy taste will eventually sour the beer. I like this beer a lot. Would hate to see it retired, but I guess weíll have to wait and see on the future status of it.
***Had the new version on tap at Madison Craft Beer Week. Absolutely phenomenal. A+++***

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Sample at Kurtkeller 005: Coffee-tastic 01 on 02/08/2014. Pours black with a medium khaki head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, oak and malt. Medium-bodied with an odd mineral/metallic character that makes me wonder if this bottle is infected. Notes of buttery bourbon, malt and stale coffee. The finish is roasty and metallic with a malt aftertaste. A disappointment overall.

Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Pours a dark brownish, black color, fairly clear. Aroma of coffe, roasty, choco, and mild booze character. More coffe and roastiness, good, tasty, yumm yumm.

Bottle. Tons of coffe in the nose. No sign of infection so far. Taste is about the same. Moderate coffe flavor not as much as nose would indicate. Solid booze flavor. Pretty darn good.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
caramel, chocolate, roasty, coffee, vanilla, smoke, butterscotch, black, minimal head, white foam, medium sweetness, cocoa, coffee. drinking a 2013 so about a year on age. With a year of age the barrel character has died a little bringing out more of the chocolate left over from the coffee still getting quite a few coffee notes even after a year. drinks so easy a clean. creamy and chocolate. one of my fav. coffee beers. not infected whats so ever.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled January 2011, so three years old. Didnít pick up much coffee in the nose, but a mellow dark coffee flavor coffee comes through. Nice, well-rounded, flavorful imperial stout, but I bet this would be brighter and more impressive if it were fresher. Has that certain drab flavor of an imperial stout slightly past its prime.
