4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a very dark brown, almost black color thatís pretty much completely opaque except for very dark mahogany edges when held to a light source with a two finger frothy beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring and cap, coating the glass with lacing on itís way.
Nice roasty aroma with a huge chocolate malt presence and beautiful rosted coffee bean nose. The bourbon presence is a wonderful accompaniment not overpowering the other aromas. Also, there is some nice caramel, chocolate and toffee notes with subtle hops.
Very roasty mouthfeel with a lot more of a hop forward presence than expected. HUGE roated coffee bean flavor with hints of chocolate malt, caramel, oatmeal, toffee and a perfect dose of earthy bourbon. This beer is very complex and extremely well-balanced with none of the flavors overpowering the others. Quite unusual for a coffee and/or bourbon barrel aged beer. Silky smooth with a raosty yet sweet body and slightly dry finish.

Courtesy of Dan.
Pours thick black with beige/mocha head.
Aroma is just another CW hit. Bourbon comes alive and fills the nose with barrel goodness. Coffee is present adding a great dimension to the aroma.
Flavor, malty with strong coffee presence.
Found the bourbon to be sub par to some other CW bourbon beers.
Hints of caramel malts, light bitter chocolate and a warming bourbon mouthfeel, lots of coffee roast on the palate.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beer #38 of 42 at GTMW, 8-8-09. The server said this was a barrel-aged version. Iíll need to check it out. Very nice stout appearance. Very apparent coffee smell, as well as an alcohol and bourbon smell. I need to sit down to taste this. Nice sharp coffee taste predominates over any alcohol. Iím clearly not in a condition to review many more beers, but this one is well worth having discovered.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The Dan Journal #256. Tasted 3/28/09. 12oz bottle. Dark and opaque with a brainy ring of beige head. Aromas of cocoa and toffee with a vanilla oaky note. Slightly earthy. Full bodied with a lot of burn and noticeable oaky vanilla notes. Malty chocolate and fudge. The coffee really adds a dimension and accentuates the palate. Good meld and roll in the palate. This is solid.
