Hey this one isnt a sludgy infected mess! Roast and coffee aroma, some light oak, vanilla and booze. Some fruitiness and coffee, light roast and soem woodiness. Pretty nice beer, with an unfortunate and deserved reputation. Here’s hoping it gets better!

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of vinegar, roasted malts, coffee, and bourbon. Flavor the same with the vinegar dominating. Average texture. Got one of those infected bottles!

Had this in Madison, WI at the Old Fasioned Tavern, poured from draft part of a flight. Heavy bourbon aroma and taste. Very strong. Vanilla and rich taste also. Good beer.

2013 bottle -- not infected!! :D

Bourbon-forward, coffee takes a back seat. Roasty, hearty, well balanced. Yet still suffers from Central Waters Syndrome: too much carb, not enough body. An excellent BA stout nonetheless.

Thanks to deadCATAtlanta for sharing the bottle. Pours dark, dark brown with slight red tinge and tan head. Scent is deep blend of chocolate and coffee with a touch of cinnamon. Taste is spicy sweet and savory. The beer is thick yet well carbonated. Bottle - Share from deadCATAlanta - Atlanta, GA

12oz bottle. 2012 vintage. Pours a viscous, nearly opaque black with one ring of beige head. Nose has a lot of vanilla, coffee grounds, brown sugar, molasses, cake icing, a little raisin. Flavor is interesting, a little vinegar, stale coffee, like a cup of Folgers that sat in your fridge for days, lightly sweet. Slightly acetic finish. A little off.

2013 bottle. Rich, roasty aroma of earthy coffee, oak, some vanilla, and toffee. Medium black in color with thick tan lacing and a thin khaki head. Very decadent taste of loamy espresso, dark chocolate, and a cedar-like spice, and oaky tannins. While the coffee is the prominent flavor, it doesn’t overpower the other notes. Medium body with a dry, woody finish. It’s nice to finally try a non-infected bottle.

0.355l bottle, 2013 model from trade with FrostyTiger. This is a clear one with small quickly side sticking light beige head, and the body itself is deep dark brown with a little bit of red. It might not look like a million bucks, but the aroma is absolutely fantastic! Lots of sweet vanilla, dark robust chocolate, strong dark chocolate, burned wood and lots of strong espresso. Lovely all the way, and as it gets some temperature it opens up, gets more sweet and roasted. It has a soft to average small prickling carbonation level with a somewhat light, almost thin oily mouthfeel. The taste is not as sweet as the aroma lead me to believe. I get milk chocolate, lots of vanilla extract, wood and some soft leather. The vanilla is definitely not playing the second fiddle here, and the rest of the flavor are more subdued in the background. Did not really pick up to much of the added coffee though. A tasty one. Thanks David! 28.03.2013

Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, bittersweet chocolate and a hint of booze bourbon on the note. Very sweet with a bitter bourbon finish. Amazing beer! So good!!!
