My absolute favorite beer, I wait all year for it to be finished. 2011 was no disappointment. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on some you will be very happy.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2010 An all time favorite coffee stout. Hint of vanilla, big coffe and subtle chocolate All rounded out with a sweet bourbon undertone. One of those bourbon stouts that gets it just right by not going overkill on the bourbon. pours jet black and viscous. My fav from Central Waters.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2009 Holy amazing beer batman. This came from noncaloric...what a friggin beer. Purs a nice dark brown color with hints of dakr red. A very thin espresso like head. Aroma well damn this one has it all. Coffee, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, light roasted malt, and even some dark fruit notes. The flavor, and wow what a flavor it is, is full of smooth and delicious coffee, great undertones of bourbon, oak, vanilla and chocolate. My god how do I get a case of this stuff. OMG. Wow.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2010 Bottle, courtesy someone at the Tampa tasting. Dark reddish brown color, hazy white head and some lacing. Big chocolate nose, caramel, bourbon and some coffee roast. Flavor is huge chocolate and roast with caramel and dark cocoa. Smooth, full-bodied, balanced and yummy.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2012 On tap at Devils Den for Beer Week. Did not even know this was on tap beforehand, turned out to be my favorite of the event. Pours s pitch black with creamy beige head and medium lacing. Aromas are overwhelmingly raw cookie dough, bourbon, chocolate, cinnamon, smoked peaty woods. Taste is chocolate chip cookie with roasted malts, bourbon whiskey, brown suagr, caramel, sour peruvian coffee and rich dark cocoa beans. Finishes so smooth with a milkshake creaminess and balanced profile all around. One of the best stouts I have tried.

A wonderful stout. There is a great balance between the coffee and bourbon. I will buy this again.

This aroma is heavenly, burst from the bottle. Boozy caramel and toffee blended with oily coffee beans. Very reminiscent of Big Hugs on the nose. A surprising level of clarity. Pours like a fresh stange of Sumatra with very little head. Goddamn is that smell terrific. The taste - I don’t even know how to describe this. It’s so perfect. Really a brilliant combination of smoky caramel and light chocolate with fresh, fresh coffee beans. They’ve achieved a truly perfect balance here. Mouthfeel could be amped up a bit but that’s my one and only critique. This beer is otherwise flawless in my book. Extremely well done. This is a definite must-try!

2012 bottle poured into a pint glass. **Note** The warmer the beer got, the better i felt it tasted/smelled. Cool at best for this one IMO. A - Black in color with a very light layer of head on top, head reduces to next to nothing within a couple of minutes. No lacing anywhere to mention. S - Sweet chocolate followed by bourbon, vanilla, and a light coffee note. T- Light hop bitterness upfront with a creamy chocolate flavor, bourbon, vanilla, and coffee through the middle of the beer and a finish warmed by alcohol. A bit of a dry finish. M - Medium body and and light carbonation on the bottle i had. I thought it finished a bit dry but is very well balanced given the ABV. O - Very very good beer, awesome flavors and nose coming off this beer with every sip. I think i can summarize this beer as: i’ve had few better and many worse in this style. I’ll buy this annually anytime i can get my hands on it, it’s excellent. Only subjective comment on this brew is that i think there could be a tad more coffee added to better balance the bourbon/vanilla flavors. This is completely subjective based on what flavors i value more prominently in a beer. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 02-03-2012 22:37:39

Dont even sip it until it warms up! Not as chewy as other imperial stouts. The star here is the balance between the coffee and bourbon. A perfwct blend. Very little head. Smooth and delicious.
